Surprise! Grandia HD Collection Will Release Next Week on Switch

grandia II

Back in June we were teased with more Grandia HD Collection news that was supposed to be coming “soon.” I was thinking sometime around E3, but clearly GungHo Online Entertainment felt early August was still pretty soon. In any event, they delivered and not only revealed the release date for Grandia HD Collection on Nintendo Switch but also that, surprise, it’s coming out next week!

The collection which will include enhanced HD versions of both Grandia I and II will release next Friday on Aug. 16. The details of the collection haven’t changed from the last time we heard from GungHo, but to save you a click we’ll list them down below.

Now it’s worth noting that we only have a release date for the HD Collection for the Switch. GungHo did not release information yet about the Grandia HD Remaster for PC. The release date for that one will be announced another time but the anniversary edition of Grandia II is already out on Steam if you’re chomping at the bit.

It’s funny, I remember at the time chatter of Skies of Arcadia being overshadowed by the highly anticipated Grandia II for which released right around the same time on the Sega Dreamcast but fortunately, both games ended up becoming classics in their own right.

Grandia fans though will have the luxury of seeing two great games remastered for the Switch. Hopefully Sega can follow suit and get Skies of Arcadia ported to a modern console as well…

Anyhoo, check out the key features for both games, including details of the remastering going on below.
