Today’s issue of Weekly Famitsu included plenty of screenshots of the upcoming Persona 5 Royal, which is bringing significant changes to the original game.
The image starts with a look at Morgana, Makoto, Futaba, and Haru and their new Personas.
Morgana’s Persona is Diego, the actual name of the character behind Zorro, a masked swordsman and a true gentleman who helps the weak and fight against oppression.
Agnes is Makoto’s persona, and it’s the real name of the legendary Pope Johanna, who disguised herself as a male.
Futaba’s persona is Al Azif, the real name of Necronomicon, the most important secret book in Chtulhu mythology.
Haru’s persona is Lucy. The name is based on Lucy Hay, the English courtier who is said to have served as inspiration for Milady de Winter in Alexandre Dumas’ The Three Musketeers.
We also get to see more of Goro Akechi, who will have a completely overhauled confident story compared with the original, including manual progression as opposed to linear automated progression. Appropriately, getting closer to him will grant the ability to identify weaknesses and resistances of enemies at the beginning of battles.
The screenshots also showcase the new events that will come with the new game. We’ll meet Futaba’s mother Wakaba Isshiki, or at least, it’s someone with the same name and looks. We’ll also see Haru going out with her father. This is also strange because this shouldn’t be happening in the third semester, but the winter clothes identify the time frame.
We then get to take a look at Jose, the new character who dwells in Mentos. we’ll be able to collect stamps and flowers that we can then trade with him in order to modify reward parameters (XP, money, and items) and to receive HP and SP-recovery items.
You can check them all out below.
If you want to see more about the game, you also enjoy the latest trailer and gameplay reveal, including Goro Akechi, Jose and Mementos, two recent videos focusing on the new character Kasumi and additions to the battle system and two more showing another look at the new features.
We then have a recent trailer in English, a batch of gameplay screenshots, the first character trailer focusing on Kasumi the second showcasing Ryuji, the third starring Ann, the fourth focusing on Yusuke, the fifth showcasing Makoto, the sixth featuring Futaba, the seventh showing Haru, and the eighth starring Morgana.
Persona 5 Royal is launching in Japan on October 31, 2019, exclusively for PS4, and in the west in 2020.
