We learn that as io June 30, Resident Evil 2 has shipped 4.5 million units, Monster Hunter: World is currently at 13.1 million units, and Devil May Cry 5 is at 2.5 million.

We also get some interesting information from the Question & Answers session of the earnings presentation.

First of all, Capcom believes both Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5 will end up shipping over one million units each in the period between April 2019 and March 2020.

“We believe that through carrying out promotions such as discounts for digital versions of these titles that even further sales growth is possible, and have forecasted these titles to sell more than 1 million units each for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2020.”

Speaking of Monster Hunter: World, Capcom can’t yet gauge the pre-release response to Monster Hunter: World’s expansion Iceborne.

“We are refraining from making a statement regarding this because, in addition to this being our first attempt at launching a massive expansion digitally, we have no option in place for pre-ordering/shipping this title in digital sales, thus it is difficult for us to give an estimate of the first shipment until after the release date.”

They also explained what they believe is driving further sales of the game.

“We believe that the announcement of the massive expansion MHW:I as well as strategic discounts of MH:Wstimulated sales among new customers, driving sales growth.”

Interestingly, we hear about development costs for new small and mid-sized titles, including ports for Nintendo Switch.

“We recognized development costs for primarily new small and mid-sized titles, such as ports for Nintendo Switch as well as titles released in the previous fiscal year and earlier.”

It’ll be interesting to see what those titles will be, but for now, we can only wait and see.
