Today Nintendo and PlatinumGames released a new gallery of screenshots of the upcoming action game Astral Chain.
Most of the screenshots focus on the Legions, that can be used together with your main character with a system called “Dual Action.” It lets you decide whether to focus on the same enemy or on two different ones at the same time, while “Chain Binding” can block a monster with a chain connecting the player and the legion and is very effective against powerful enemies.
We also get to see all five types of Legions, which are Sword, Arrow, Beast, Arm, and Axe. They won’t just take part in battle, but also help with non-combat investigations, for instance by tracking targets.
The last screenshot in the galley is perhaps the most interesting for those who feel the battle system sounds too complex. It features a deep customization menu that lets you tweak the level of difficulty however you want. It includes automated actions like auto attack, auto recovery item, auto lock-on, auto dodge, auto style change, auto sync attack, and so forth. There are also buffs like infinite battery and super armor.
Basically, if you just want to enjoy the story and breeze through the action, you can. This appears to be an evolution of the system included in NieR: Automata.
You can check out all the screenshots below.
If you want to see more, you can enjoy the latest trailer in English, another in Japanese, the gameplay showcased at E3, and more from the day before. Recently, we also heard from Game Director Takahisa Taura (who worked as Lead Gameplay Designer on NieR: Automata) on a few interesting elements that people may not know about Astral Chain.
You can also check out the latest screenshots, an older trailer, the original announcement, and the first details and screenshots.
Astral Chain will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch on August 30 both in North America and Europe.
