Capcom just concluded its Monster Hunter: World Iceborne panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and they provided some really intriguing information about the expansion.
While the panel was not livestreamed, Twitter user BlessRNG took upon himself the task to spread the word (and the many images) provided by Executive Director Kaname Fujioka.
The talk focused mostly on the recently-revealed subspecies, providing details on Fulgur Anjanath, Ebony Odagaron, and Acidic Glavenus. We also take a look at the gear they provide when farmed.
You can check out all the relevant tweets below.

Seems we are gonna be talking Subspecies today! pic.twitter.com/aeDHabWCzt

Chatting about Rathian and Rathalos design.
For their subspecies, the team really wanted to emphasize different attacks to create a new experience. For Pink Rathian, focus on the somersault more. For Azure Rathalos, focus on being in the sky and attacking from there! pic.twitter.com/glekUsXWhj

WELL EVERYONE WHEN A PINK RATHIAN AND AN AZURE RATHALOS LOVE EACHOTHER VERY MUCH… pic.twitter.com/SgnJjgDmOZ

Anjanath talks! With Anjanath, they wanted to focus on their big physical attacks and make sure that players understand the game by this point. They added a breath attack to make it more fun! pic.twitter.com/panW9K4pgT

NEW SUBSPECIES: FULGUR ANJANATH!
Based on player action, you’ll be able to dictate how much energy this monster can store. The more stored, the more Thunder element applied to its attacks. pic.twitter.com/7HpTsq12KV

The Fulgur Anjanath is expected to appear around midway through Master Rank. Going for a Thunder God and Cyber motif with this monster!
These ideas here were actually scrapped in design as they felt it wasnt a mid difficulty look. pic.twitter.com/bN3CZ8e4oo

Here is the final design for Fulgur Anjanath! The tiger stripes are there to represent thunder and electricity. Kaminari-sama (the dude below) is often depicted with tiger stripes. Hence the stripes! pic.twitter.com/e4SwGN6d19

When Fulgur Anjanath is not charged, it focuses on physical attacks.
When fully charged, it focuses on heavy electric attacks – including electric snot lmao pic.twitter.com/cV9sDN3GLu

On the right we have FULGIR ANJANATH ARMOUR DESIGNS!!! The armour has more thunder related skills and abilities.
Also weapon designs!!! pic.twitter.com/YfwIDiOUIj

We are now talking about Odagaron! As you may know, it inflicts heavy bleed and it can eat meat and power up.
Welcome… EBONY ODAGARON! pic.twitter.com/PEnwfVmxQJ
— BlessRNG | Brad Jolly @ SDCC 🔜 LTX (@BlessRNGee) July 19, 2019
Ebony Odagaron will start off powered up, plus will have more wide sweeping style attacks to change up the tempo.
It is Dragon element and weak to elemental damage. Bring those high element weapons! Dual Blades, perhaps? pic.twitter.com/PQuIodBvHc

Here are some initial Ebony Odagaron designs!
The first hiccup the team ran into was ‘Wait, what does Dragon element LOOK like?’
They designed the armour theme before the monster to tackle that problem. Added a metallic look to the garment. pic.twitter.com/S1Ib7LFGbs

With those earlier designs, they felt it didnt reflect the monster well so those designs were scrapped. Tsujimoto-san loves wearing gold armour, and they thought having it at a mod game monster would be weird. Why change once you get it?

ACIDIC GLAVENUS WHO IS THIS NEW GLORIOUS BOY? pic.twitter.com/2tQjH0x57Y

A few photos of regular Glavenus in action. It sharpens its tail to take rust off it and heat it up for extra damage to us Hunters! pic.twitter.com/Q0Up7Avsx6
— BlessRNG | Brad Jolly @ SDCC 🔜 LTX (@BlessRNGee) July 19, 2019
Acidic Glavenus is gonna have more focus on its tail attacks compared to the regulars breath attacks.
The tail will apply a debuff to the player. Sharpening its tail means it can no longer apply the debuff but gains speed and attack power. Over time, it regains the debuff attack pic.twitter.com/3odetif5CK
— BlessRNG | Brad Jolly @ SDCC 🔜 LTX (@BlessRNGee) July 19, 2019
Here’s a concept shot of the Acidic Glavenus. They want to go for less of a great sword motif and more of a great axe style. The lower image is meant to make us think of… a chainsaw?!?
This design was scrapped. pic.twitter.com/DrlFDuR3Ji
— BlessRNG | Brad Jolly @ SDCC 🔜 LTX (@BlessRNGee) July 19, 2019
Here’s the next design! It focuses more on the Acidic Glavenus transforming, like with the poison buildup in its mouth and tail.
On the bottom design, they went for more of a slow secretion effect.
They wanted to take it a step further. So these were also scrapped. pic.twitter.com/BPphSn7BR7

FINAL DESIGN FOR ACIDIC GLAVENUS!
The tail is shaped to more like a katana with when it is sharpened it is its strongest. Over time, it’ll gain that acid crystal design for the debuff instead.
The katana design is to show that the Acidic Glavenus is can execute faster attacks. pic.twitter.com/5baWhViR1w
— BlessRNG | Brad Jolly @ SDCC 🔜 LTX (@BlessRNGee) July 19, 2019
Here is the Acidic Glavenus tail in sharpened and in full debuff states. As you can see, it is VERY different. When in debuff state, the Acidic Glavenus will attack slower but apply that mystery debuff. pic.twitter.com/tHaoSmJ3CQ
— BlessRNG | Brad Jolly @ SDCC 🔜 LTX (@BlessRNGee) July 19, 2019
When in Sulphiric state, the Acidic Glavenus moves much like a regular one in terms of speed.
When sharpened it gains LOTS of speed and dangerous poke attacks.
Seems the debuff might be… Defense Down? Not 100% on that though. pic.twitter.com/Rtbuut4CYb
— BlessRNG | Brad Jolly @ SDCC 🔜 LTX (@BlessRNGee) July 19, 2019
That is the endl! Thanks for joining us! There will be more subspecies to come!
I stream @monsterhunter a lot so come check my own content out at https://t.co/YAxr8DYu0R and thanks to Capcom USA for organising me to cover this!

If you want to see more, you can also enjoy the first look at the Nargacuga, Beotodus, Direwolf, Black Diablos, Odogaron and Girros, Rathian, and Legiana’s armor sets.
Monster Hunter: World Iceborne will be released worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6.
The Steam version will be released in the winter, so the gap between launches on consoles and PC won’t be as long as it has been for the main game.
