In between the numerous battles that you’ll find yourself strategically working your way through in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, you’ll have some free time to do as you wish. If tea parties aren’t your thing, you can always try your hand at a bit of fishing. Here’s everything you need to know about fishing in Three Houses.
How to Fish in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
First things first, you’ll need to head to the Fishing Pond. This can be found in the south of the Monastery. Once you arrive here, talk to the NPC in order to start fishing. This initiates a bit of a mini-game within Three Houses, so let’s run you through what you need to do to actually catch a fish.
When you get a bite, you’ll need to wait for the A button prompt to flash up on the screen. As soon as you see it, hit A, and that’ll start the next segment.
Here, you need to play another little mini-game where a ring begins to close in on a hit marker in the center of the screen. All you need to do here is press A when the ring touches the marker.
The more centered the ring is on the marker when you press A, the more health you’ll deplete from the fish’s health bar in the bottom right corner of the screen.
In order to successfully catch a fish, you then need to keep pressing A when the ring is on the marker to completely deplete the fish’s health bar.
It’s worth noting that there are different types of fish based on size, these are Glimmering, Large, and Small. The larger the fish, the trickier they’ll be to catch, with a larger health bar and the capability to deal more damage to your rod’s health gauge if you get your timings wrong.
Be warned, though, continued misses during this segment of the mini-game will cause your rod health in the bottom left of the corner to decrease faster. It’s essentially a test of your timing, and you’ll need to have caught the fish before your rod’s health bar is fully depleted, otherwise it’s game over.
What Are Fish Used For in Fire Emblem: Three Heroes?
Fish can be used as ingredients for cooking meals in the dining hall. These can give your various units a stat boost for all battles in that month. Catching fish also increases your progress towards the next professor rank, which is well worth keeping in mind if you need to grind some levels out.
