At long last, Super Mario Maker 2 is out! It’s an absolute blast to toy around with all the new tools that Nintendo’s included in this sequel, and arguably even more fun to hop online see what other people online have come up with. Why It’s One of the Best Super: This Super Mario Bros ice level is bonkers. You’ll hardly find time to catch your breath as you jump from icicle to icicle and leap out of dry bones shells, avoiding buzz saws and thwomps all the way. Luckily, there’s a handy checkpoint after you go to the sub-area.

Why It’s One of the Best Super: Another hard one! This level has you jumping across a dangerous acid pit as you throw shells, hop between swinging claws, and delicately spin jump on top of spinies.
The moment-to-moment decisions in this level have to be as precise as your reactions, but it’s also a short level, so you can afford to restart a few dozen times before you finally nail it.

Why It’s One of the Best: The Super Mario 3D World game-style in this course allows for a few additional moves that the other modes can’t offer. Why It’s One of the Best: This course has you throwing bombs and pow blocks to clear out the path in front of you. The timer is incredibly strict, but the designer perfectly designed the level to run out just after you’re supposed to get to the flag pole.
Of course, the coolest part is the bit at the beginning where a green shell tags along beside you, eventually making a great jumping-off point.

Why It’s One of the Best: Precision is key here, as every moment in this back-to-back chain of obstacles relies on what you did previously.
The coolest moment has to be when Mario bounces off of a galoomba twice, before picking it up and using it to hit a switch. It’s these kind of item combos we love about Super Mario World, and it’s demonstrated very well in this course.

Why It’s One of the Best: We love how André took the already-neat design of the jungle level and added vines, wigglers, and mushrooms to give it even more of a sense of place.
It may be short, but it’s got a cool progression that takes you from the bottom of the forestry to the top, before dumping you on a lone island, and then to the flag pole.
