Apex Legends: All Season 2 Weapons Ranked Worst to Best

With the release of Season 2 in Apex Legends, the weapon tier list has shifted a bit in consideration of all the new changes to the game.

Recommended Videos

Some of the new weapon changes include Energy Mags being released as new attachments, Shotgun and Energy max ammo stacks being tweaked (64 to 16 for Shotguns, and 60 to 80 for Energy), two new Hop-Ups Disruptor Rounds and Hammerpoint Rounds being added, and buffs to specific weapons.

Finally a whole new L-STAR LMG from the Titianfall series being added to the game as well.

With these tweaks in consideration, here is a whole new ranking of the weapons in Apex Legends with the release of Season 2 from worst to best.

Apex Legends Season 2 Weapons Ranked

#21 – Mozambique Shotgun

  • Ammo Type: Shotgun
  • Fire-Rate Type: Single
  • Default Magazine Size: 3
  • Body Damage: 45
  • Headshot Damage: 66

There’s a reason why the Mozambique has become a meme online. It’s the type of gun you pick up if you have absolutely no other option, but as soon as anything else comes along it’s going right back on the ground where it belongs.

That being said, with Season 2 the Mozambique now has Hop-Up functionality with the all-new Hammerpoint Rounds Hop-Up working with both it and the P2020. This increases unshielded damage with the weapon to the enemy.

Without the Hop-Up it does 45 damages on the body if all three shots manage to hit the target, with 66 damage if you hit the enemies head.

This is significantly lower than all of the other weapons in Apex Legends, and essentially means you have to be landing perfect 3-pointed shots every single time with this gun to even be making decent damage on the enemy at any given time. With only three rounds in a magazine, this is a very difficult task just to scrape by.

Even with the increased unshielded damage of the Hammerpoint Rounds, it’s just not worth it to pick up this gun and ever use it long term. Not to mention the Hop-Up only works on damaging base health, and once your enemy has shields it’s like you are back to square one with the normal Mozambique again.

#20 – P2020

  • Ammo Type: Light
  • Fire-Rate Type: Single
  • Default Magazine Size: 10
  • Body Damage: 13
  • Headshot Damage: 20

The P2020 got a couple of tweaks with the new Season, being a new Hop-Up functionality with the Hammerpoint Rounds and increased body damage from 12 to 13 and headshot damage form 18-20.

What these changes do it make the P2020 better at its main job, which is being a quick pick up at the start of a round to inflict as much chip damages as you can on other nearby enemies who have yet to pick up a shield. This is mainly what the P2020 is used for, as it does not have much viability throughout the rest of a match and therefore is why it’s found so far at the bottom of our list.

But it does beat out the Mozambique, as it’s increased magazine size and more accurate shots make it a better choice overall.

#19 – RE-45 Auto

  • Ammo Type: Light
  • Fire-Rate Type: Auto
  • Default Magazine Size: 15
  • Body Damage: 11
  • Headshot Damage: 16

The RE-45 is the best of the low-tier pistols (the Wingman is going to come much, much later), as it has more to offer than just being a gun you use in the first minute or so of the game with no other option.

Since it has such a quick draw, controllable recoil, and a faster fire rate, it is great at finishing off an enemy while using the more common ammo type in the game. It’s a decent gun to keep for weapon swap-tactics in the middle or even later in-game, even if it technically has lower body damage especially after the buff to the P2020 with Season 2’s release.

The RE-45 also now works with the Disruptor Rounds Hop-Up, which does additional damage to shields. Comparing this Hop-Up to the Hammerpoint Rounds means that the Re-45 is better for the long-term compared to the Mozambique and P2020 as essentially every enemy is going to have shields after the first few minutes of the game.

#18 – EVA-8 Auto

  • Ammo Type: Shotgun
  • Fire-Rate Type: Auto
  • Default Magazine Size: 8
  • Body Damage: 63
  • Headshot Damage: 90

This shotgun w0rks particularly well if you are a few feet away from your enemy, firing nine shells at a time that each do seven damage to the body is landed. However, besides super close-range fighting it doesn’t really have anything else to offer and is trumped by the Peacekeeper Shotgun in almost every single way.

Its auto fire-rate can be beneficial, but since it’s damage is so low compared to other shotguns this means you will have to land four or five clean shots on a full health and shield enemy before you can bring them down.

Since a shotgun’s one job is to level a close-range player in as few shots as possible, this means the EVA-8 isn’t a great choice since it should also never be used in mid-range battles and especially not long-range fights.

It’s a better pick than the low-tier pistols for a quick kill at the start of a game, but not a great choice for pretty much anything else.

#17 – VK-47 Flatline

  • Ammo Type: Heavy
  • Fire-Rate Type: Auto/Single
  • Default Magazine Size: 20
  • Body Damage: 19
  • Headshot Damage: 38

The Flatline is the least impressive of the Assault Rifles in Apex Legends, simply because it its performance tends to scale on the poor side due to its high recoil, poor accuracy, and weak long-range viability.

It lacks consistency for players even at the higher skill level, and really requires the Epic level Extended Heavy Mag and Standard Stock to even be considered for an end game gun to hold on to. In Season 2 the Flatline’s damage was increased from 16 to 19, but this just isn’t enough to make it a better choice to guns like the Spitfire, Prowler, or even the R-99.

Without the option for better Barrels to help that recoil issue, the Flatline just doesn’t compare to the other Assault Rifles in terms of trust for performance.

#16 – G7 Scout

  • Ammo Type: Light
  • Fire-Rate Type: Single
  • Default Magazine Size: 10
  • Body Damage: 30
  • Headshot Damage: 60

The G7 Scout has the lowest damage numbers of any of the Sniper Rifles in Apex Legends, and has a slower bullet traveling speed which can make it harder to hit really distanced enemies.

However, what the G7 lacks in damage numbers it makes up for in common ammo type and larger magazine size. Its default magazine holds ten rounds, with the next closest sniper being the DMR at six rounds.

This makes the G7 Scout a better decent sniper choice in that it is forgiving for a player with less accuracy. You will spend less time reloading, and more time picking away at damage while you might rely on your teammates to finish off enemies with closer-range weapons.

Therefore, for those in a situation where the enemies are at medium range (which in Apex happens exceedingly often), the G7 Scout is a great option for new or intermediate players to practice their sniping skills without having to worry about being vulnerable while reloading as nearly as often as with the other Sniper Rifles.

#15 – Alternator SMG – Apex Legends Season 2 Weapons Ranked

  • Ammo Type: Light
  • Fire-Rate Type: Auto
  • Default Magazine Size: 16
  • Body Damage: 15
  • Headshot Damage: 22

Even though the Alternator is near the lower side of the list, it’s one of the few guns with the release of Season 2 that saw significant improvement with the patch changes to make it way more of a beast.

Its damage was increased from 13-15 and it now works with the Disruptor Rounds Hop-Up. But it’s one negative change is recoil mitigation was increased for all barrel attachments.

It can also use stabilizers, extended magazines, and stocks, which immediately separates it from the pistol crowd in terms of alter-ability. With the Hop-Up it now increases damage on shielded enemies by 1.7x, but when the Season originally started it was a whopping 2.26x multiplier before it was nerfed back down.

The Alternator is a good weapon to have for swap-tactics due to its common ammo, auto-fire, and new increased damage. It’s improved dramatically this season, but the nerf of its shield damage multiplayer since means it’s not as high on the list as it could have been only a few weeks ago.

#14 – Longbow DMR

  • Ammo Type: Heavy
  • Fire-Rate Type: Single
  • Default Magazine Size: 6
  • Body Damage: 55
  • Headshot Damage: 110

The Longbow can be an absolutely deadly weapon that can take down an entire team from the safety of across the map, but only if you have the aiming skills to back it up.

The G7 Scout is a better option for mid-range fights with its higher default magazine size, but the Longbow really shines when you have the Skullpiercer Rifling Hop-Up as well.

Therefore, it beats out the G7 Scout on our list in terms of sniping, as even though there are fewer situations where it might be more useful to have a Longbow, when you have the proper attachments and the upper ground the Longbow will outperform the Scout every single time.

It also has very good hip firing accuracy for a sniper class, and has the potential to one-shot even shielded enemies with the Skullpiercer Rifling and a well-landed headshot.

#13 – Triple Take

  • Ammo Type: Energy
  • Fire-Rate Type: Single
  • Default Magazine Size: 5
  • Body Damage: 69
  • Headshot Damage: 138

Normally the Triple Take might have been lower in the list in terms of rankings from worst to best weapon in Apex Legends, but with the changes from Season Two we believe it deserves to move up a couple spots.

The Triple Take’s charge time with the Precision Choke Hop-Up was decreased from 1.5 seconds to 1.1, making it a lot quicker to fully charge a shot.

Like the Mozambique, the Triple Take also fires off three shots but differs in that it’s three shots are horizontal instead of triangular. If you have the Precision Choke Hop-Up, you can charge the gun to align all three bullets into one straightforward shot which does significantly more damage if landed.

Energy Magazine were also added in Apex Legends Season 2, meaning the Triple Take no longer just takes scopes and stocks. You can now increase ammo capacity (at all levels) and reduce reload time (at level two and above), making the Triple Take a much more viable choice for sniping.

Not to mention Energy ammo has no drop within the world of Apex Legends, so beginners who are getting used to sniping might have a much easier time with the Triple Take than another of the other Sniper Rifles that all take ammo which drops over distances.

#12 – Devotion LMG

  • Ammo Type: Energy
  • Fire-Rate Type: Auto
  • Default Magazine Size: 44
  • Body Damage: 17
  • Headshot Damage: 34

The Devotion is tricky as it seems to have almost equal pros and cons when considering it for long-term game usage.

It can rip through enemies like butter, but only after a RPM acceleration. The Turbocharger Hop-Up can allow you to skip that ramp up, but it’s one of the rarest things to encounter in-game. It has a huge default magazine size, but Energy ammo is the rarest ammo to find. It has a very fast fire rate, but a super slow reload time.

It’s one of those guns you’re not disappointed to pick up, but might be more willing to drop unless you happen upon a Turbocharger early on in the game.

#11 – Havoc Rifle

apex legends, weapons

  • Ammo Type: Energy
  • Fire-Rate Type: Auto/Single(with Hop-Up)
  • Default Magazine Size: 24
  • Body Damage: 18
  • Headshot Damage: 36

The Havoc has similar problems with the Devotion, being ramp up speeds and uncommon ammo, but just beats it out with the more common Hop-Ups and slightly better overall damage numbers.

Both the Turbocharger and Selectfire Receiver work with this gun, so you don’t have to wait for a legendary Hop-Up to alter this gun to your liking. The single-fire shot still does require a charge up time, but does enough additional damage when landed to make it worth it.

The Season 2 changing of max energy ammo stack increasing from 60 to 80 also works in the Havoc favor, as even though its default magazine holds 20 fewer rounds than the Devotion, you can now carry more Energy ammo in fewer spaces within your bag. Meaning it is less of a risk to go with the gun that holds fewer rounds when you first pick it up.

Not to mention the new Energy Mags also work with both the Devotion and Havoc as well, so you have the chance to increase the magazine of the Havoc so it’s base 24 rounds won’t be as big of an issue.

#10 – Hemlock Burst AR – Apex Legends Season 2 Weapons Ranked

  • Ammo Type: Heavy
  • Fire-Rate Type: Burst/Single
  • Default Magazine Size: 18
  • Body Damage: 18
  • Headshot Damage: 36

In order for you to succeed with the Hemlock, you are going to have to have a be quick on the trigger to send out both burst and single fire shots. The Hemlock allows you to choose between the two, and it’s really up to your preference of playstyle to find which of the two modes works best for you.

It has high burst damage and accuracy, but has a low overall rate of fire that is also hindered by its low default magazine size. With the inclusion of the new Energy Mags in Season 2, both the Devotion and the Havoc came very close to surpassing the Hemlock in the weapon rankings.

However, the Hemlock holds a decent spot as even though it’s headshot multiplayer isn’t great and it’s not viable at close range, it’s mid-range success and barrel compatibility means its a solid middle of the field weapon that can be useful in various situations.

#9 – Prowler Burst PDW

  • Ammo Type: Heavy
  • Fire-Rate Type: Burst/Auto(with Hop-Up)
  • Default Magazine Size: 20
  • Body Damage: 14
  • Headshot Damage: 21

While like the Hemlock the Prowler has a default burst fire-rate, it shoots with five rounds instead of three. It also has a better movement and reload speed compared to the Hemlock.

But the best perk of all comes when you find a Selectfire Receiver Hop-Up and switch to Auto-Fire, turning this gun from a decent choice to one of the most devastating weapons in the game.

If the Prowler was a default Auto-Fire weapon, it would likely make it to into the top five of best weapons in the entire game. However, it lands in the middle of our list as it’s true power truly rests with you finding a Hop-Up to really take it to that next level.

#8 – R-99

  • Ammo Type: Light
  • Fire-Rate Type: Auto
  • Default Magazine Size: 18
  • Body Damage: 12
  • Headshot Damage: 18

You might be surprised to find an SMG so high up on this ranking list, but this is because the R-99 remains a very strong choice for various situations throughout both Season 1 and 2 of Apex Legends.

Despite having the lowest damages out of all the SMGs, it has the fastest firing rate while being fully customizable with Extended Light Mags, Standard Stocks, and even Legendary Barrel Stabilizers. Not to mention the 1X Digital Threat works on this gun as well.

Having the Extended Light Mag really takes this weapon to its next level, as even without the stocks or barrels it has decent recoil maintenance. If you’re able to secure an Epic Light Mag early on, then it’s completely respectful to take an R-99 all the way to an end game fight as you will have a much more forgiving margin for error with missed shots.

#7 – L-STAR EMG

  • Ammo Type: Special
  • Fire-Rate Type: Auto
  • Default Magazine Size: 40
  • Body Damage: 21
  • Headshot Damage: 42

The L-STAR is the newest weapon to release alongside Season 2 in Apex Legends, but we always suspected it was coming as Bloodhound has been holding it on the loading screen since the release of the game.

It has a super-fast rate of fire, and is fully automatic. When you’re in the heat of a battle it’s going to round off a huge number of bullets in a very short time frame.

However, it is currently the only gun that can overheat if you shoot it continuously. After 18 shots without pause, your hero will be forced to cease-fire until the gun cools down. A player would have to learn to “feather the trigger”, and treat it as though it were a burst rifle like the Prowler or Hemlock.

The gun attempts to make up for this limitation by having the ammo act as high-damage plasma projectiles which are much larger than the other ammo types in Apex. They are more likely to find their mark when aiming at a close or medium ranged enemy, almost like they have extra aim-assist (especially on console).

It’s a strong weapon, but only if you are aware of its limitations and play around them.

#6 – Mastiff Shotgun

  • Ammo Type: Special
  • Fire-Rate Type: Single
  • Default Magazine Size: 4
  • Body Damage: 144
  • Headshot Damage: 288

Of all the Special weapons, the Mastiff shotgun is the least forgiving. Its damage rates are absolutely devastating, but this is balanced with only a four-round magazine size and super slow reload times.

While the Kraber also has both of these issues, that gun is meant for long-distance fights while the Mastiff is for close-quartered combat. Meaning that sniping is more forgiving if you miss shots, allowing you to regroup and reload with less stress while missing shots with the Mastiff can have more drastic consequences.

To make up for this, the Mastiff has a very wide horizontal spread with each bullet inflicting 18 damage, so as long as you are aiming remotely near the enemy at close range you are going to land a shot.

It’s an insanely strong weapon, but it’s also very situational.

#5 – R-301 Carbine – Apex Legends Season 2 Weapons Ranked

  • Ammo Type: Light
  • Fire-Rate Type: Auto/Single
  • Default Magazine Size: 18
  • Body Damage: 14
  • Headshot Damage: 28

Very similar to the R-99 but also better in various ways is the R-301 Carbine. While both guns have the same common ammo type, accelerated fire-rates, and default magazine size, the R-301 comes out on top with it’s greatly increased headshot damage and 2× headshot multiplier.

The R-301 also a good performance at all ranges, with excellent range particularly at long-range fights. No matter if you prefer to be up in someone’s face, just across a ridge, or watching from the safety of a high point, the R-301 is going to work for your playstyle.

Its high accuracy is the icing on the cake, and feels especially forgiving for new Apex Legend players.

#4 – Peacekeeper

  • Ammo Type: Shotgun
  • Fire-Rate Type: Single
  • Default Magazine Size: 6
  • Body Damage: 110
  • Headshot Damage: 165

The clear champion of the shotgun class, the Peacekeeper is great because it is a viable choice whether it’s in its default mode or modded out with a Hop-Up.

It has extremely high damage for being a non-special weapon, and if all 11 pellets connect with your enemy you are able to down them in just a couple shots. If you are able to find a Precision Choke Hop-Up, then you are looking even better as now your shots will focus in after a charge making the gun useful in mid-range battles as well.

It’s a great gun to pick up no matter what point you are at in your match, which is why it ranks so high on our best Apex Legends guns list.

#3 – M600 Spitfire

  • Ammo Type: Heavy
  • Fire-Rate Type: Auto
  • Default Magazine Size: 35
  • Body Damage: 18
  • Headshot Damage: 36

The Spitfire is one of those guns you would be happy to have in literally every scenario in Apex Legends. Like the R-301, it has very manageable recoil allowing for amazing accuracy over short, medium, or long distances. It also has a great starting magazine size, and has very a very high damage rate per shot.

While its reload speed and firing rate can be slower, it remains a must pick since it’s such a solid and well-rounded weapon.

It’s one of the few guns that can use a Legendary Barrel Stabilizer that makes it handle effortlessly, and with the Epic Heavy Extended Mag you are looking at 55 shots in your magazine. This is ideal for end game fights, as you can spend less time reloading and more time healing if need be.

If you encounter an Spitfire in-game, make sure to pick it up,

#2 – Wingman

apex legends

  • Ammo Type: Heavy
  • Fire-Rate Type: Single
  • Default Magazine Size: 4
  • Body Damage: 45
  • Headshot Damage: 90

The last pistol class gun we saw was all the way at number 19, so you have to know the Wingman is something special for it to land the second-best spot.

With devastating damage coming out of such a small weapon, it’s not hard to see why the Wingman is so beloved. Since it’s so small it can move very quickly while aiming, and landing a few headshots in a row can down an enemy faster than most shotguns or even snipers in the game as the Wingman is great at any distance.

It is also very efficient when keeping track of ammo, as keeping a full 80 round Heavy Ammo stack in your bag is more than enough for this smaller gun. This makes is a perfect alternate weapon, meaning you can focus more on stocking up ammo for your primary choice. Unleashing a full magazine from a SMG/LMG/Assault Rifle into an enemies’ body and then finishing it off with a Wingman shot is a sure-fire way to drop almost any player.

When you combine that with the Skullpiercer Rifling, this gun is almost unstoppable assuming you have decent aim.

It pairs well with almost any gun combo, and has consistently been one of the best guns in the game since launch day.

#1 – Kraber .50-cal Sniper – Apex Legends Season 2 Weapons Ranked

  • Ammo Type: Special
  • Fire-Rate Type: Single
  • Default Magazine Size: 4
  • Body Damage: 145
  • Headshot Damage: 297.25

Taking the top spot for the best gun in Apex Legends as of Season 2 is the legendary Kraber .50-cal Sniper.

With those damage numbers, no other sniper class gun comes even close. The Kraber was also one of the few guns to receive buffs this season, with damage increasing from 125 to 145, headshot scale increasing from 2.0 to 2.05, and leg damage scale increasing from 0.76 to 0.8.

With these buffs, Kraber drops also slightly increased in rarity in Season 2 meaning it’s harder than ever to get your hands on one of these in airdrops.

One headshot and you will down any enemy in the game no matter how much health or shields. Two body shots and you will also have the same effect. The Kraber is the unsung hero of the last few minutes of any match, allowing one player to take down multiple enemies in seconds so long as they have the upper hand and a little high ground.

And there we have all 21 weapons in Apex Legends as of Season Two ranked from worst to best. How do you rank the weapons? Let us know down below.
