Eevee has been in Pokemon GO since the mobile game launched a couple of years ago. Now, the game is very different, with trading, Raids, and shiny Pokemon being added to the game. How to Evolve Eevee in Pokemon GO

There are actually a number of different ways to evolve Eevee and get all of its various evolutions in Pokemon GO. Some of these depend on which evolution you’re after, while others can only be used once to get a specific one. To help you digest all of this information, we’ve broken all this information down for you step-by-step below.

The Eevee Evolution Naming Trick to Get All Evolutions in Pokemon GO

If you’ve been playing Pokemon GO since it first released a few years back, you’ll likely already be aware of the Eevee nickname trick that enables you to force it to evolve into a specific evolution. It’s worth noting, however, that you can only use each nickname once on your account, so if you want another Flareon, you can’t use Pyro twice, as an example.

Here’s a complete list of all Eevee evolution nicknames that you can use to get the Eeveelution you want.

  • Flareon – Pyro
  • Jolteon – Sparky
  • Vaporeon – Rainer
  • Espeon – Sakura
  • Umbreon – Tamao
  • Glaceon – Rea
  • Leafeon – Linnea

How to Use the Eevee Evolution Nickname Trick in Pokemon GO

First off, make sure that you’ve got an Eevee and the 25 Candy that you’ll need to evolve it. Once you do, simply tap on it from your list of Pokemon and then tap the pencil icon just next to its name. You can now nickname your Eevee whatever you want.

As great as an Eevee called Jebediah would be, we’d suggest using one of the above nicknames to net yourself the Eevee evolution you want. Once you’ve done that, simply tap the ‘Evolve’ option when viewing that particular ‘mon. After the evolution cutscene has finished, you should be left staring at the Eevee evolution that you wanted.

How to Get More Eevee Evolutions in Pokemon Go

As we mentioned above, the nickname trick in Pokemon GO can only be used once for each nickname per account. As such, if you’re wanting to get yourself an army of Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, or Flareon, you’re going to need to know how to evolve each one outside of this. It’s worth noting, though, that each evolution has different requirements, so we’ll run you through these down below.

How to Evolve Eevee into Leafeon and Glaceon

Leafeon and Glaceon are the Pokemon Gen 4 Eevee evolutions that you can get in Pokemon GO. In order to evolve your Eevee into one of these, however, you’ll specifically need to make use of either the Glacial Lure Module, or the Mossy Lure Module. These can both be purchased from the in-game ‘Shop’ for 200 coins.

Once you’ve purchased one of these, simply make your way towards a PokeStop in Pokemon GO. After doing this, choose to equip the Glacial Lure Module or Mossy Lure Module to the PokeStop. Then, it’s simply a case of evolving your Eevee as you would usually, meaning you’ll need 25 Candy once again.

If you wanted a Glaceon, you’ll need to evolve it while in range of a PokeStop with a Glacial Lure equipped and active. For Leafeon, you’ll want to be in range of a PokeStop with a Mossy Lure equipped and active.

How to Evolve Eevee Into Umbreon and Espeon in Pokemon GO

If you’re looking to get yourself multiple Umbreon and Espeon, using the nickname trick isn’t going to be enough. As such, you’ll need to know how outside of that you’ll be able to evolve Eevee into Umbreon and Espeon.

First off, you’ll need to make the Eevee that you’re wanting to evolve your Buddy Pokemon. This can be done by simply clicking on your avatar in the bottom left corner of the screen and then selecting your current buddy Pokemon or tapping next to your character. Then, select Eevee from the list of Pokemon and you’re all set.

You then need to walk 10km with your Eevee until you get at two Eevee candy. During this time, you cannot switch your Buddy Eevee out for another Pokemon, otherwise all of your progress towards building your friendship with it will be wiped. Once you’ve racked up the two Candy and walked 10km with your Eevee, simply keep it as your Buddy Pokemon and be ready to evolve it.

If you want to evolve Eevee into Umbreon, you want to evolve it at nighttime when the game screen is dark and everywhere looks gloomy. If you want to evolve Eevee into Espeon in Pokemon GO, you’ll want it to be all bright and blue-skied in Pokemon GO. Simply tap the Evolve button and voila, you’ll have the Eevee evolution you wanted out of either Espeon or Umbreon.

How to Evolve Eevee Into Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon

Sadly, while the Gen 3 and Gen 4 Eevee evolutions had specific ways you could evolve your Eevee into them, the original three — Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon — are somewhat randomized. If you simply hit the ‘Evolve’ button on your Eevee at any point without doing any of the above tricks for Umbreon, Espeon, Leafeon, or Glaceon, you’ll end up with one of these three eeveelutions.

However, you can always guarantee yourself at least one of each of these by using the Eevee nickname trick noted further up this page. After that point, you’ll just be at the fate of the RNG gods when it comes to evolving Eevee into Flareon, Jolteon, or Vaporeon in Pokemon GO.

Can You Get Shiny Eevee Evolutions in Pokemon GO?

The short answer is yes. Following the arrival of shiny Eevee as part of the August Community Day in 2018, players can now get shiny Eevee evolutions. You’ll simply need to follow the above steps for evolving Eevee into Glaceon, Leafeon, Umbreon, Espeon, Flareon, Vaporeon, or Jolteon as listed above with a shiny Eevee and you’ll be able to net yourself one.

That’s all you need to know about how to evolve Eevee into all evolutions in Pokemon GO. For more on the game, be sure to check out our wiki guide.
