Harry Potter Wizards Unite: How to Get Runestones & What They Do

Harry Potter, runestones

Niantic’s latest smartphone game is a familiar experience for anybody that has played Pokemon GO. Except for this time around, rather than catching Pokemon, you’ll be catching magical items, rescuing some the series’ famous protagonists, and taking out some of its infamous baddies. There’s also a raid mechanic in the game, too, which tasks players with buddying up and dungeon-crawling various fortresses, but you’ll need a certain item before you can enter. Here’s how to get Runestones and what they do in Harry Potter Wizards Unite.

How to Get Runestones & What They Do in Harry Potter Wizards Unite

As you’ve probably deduced from the above, Runestones are items that are used to enter Fortresses. They are basically a currency.

The idea of running a Fortress is to acquire loot (rewards), and Runestones allow you both to start a Fortress run and also determine how difficult each Fortress Chamber is.

The Runestone level you use to enter determines the difficulty of the enemies you face and the number of loot rewards you get, while the type of Runestone (which family it is from) determines what Registry rewards you’ll receive for beating the Chamber.

Examples of different Runestones include Care of Magical Creatures, Dark Arts, and Hogwarts School Runestones.

You’ll receive Runestones for completing various tasks in the game, such as leveling up Foundable categories.

Fortress Rewards

There are two types of rewards you’ll get for beating a fortress chamber. Fragments and Challenge level points are guaranteed rewards, but there are also random bonus fragments rewarded. If you receive one of those, then you are guaranteed Exploration Registry level points.
