Dying Light 2 is an open-world survival horror game with RPG elements. In the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse, the few remaining human survivors eke out a meager existence amongst the ruins of civilization.

In the trailer, we get to see some explosive gameplay and cinematic action, with VO from protagonist Aidan interspersed. It also showcases the world the game takes place in, and a few brief snippets of survivors attempting to go about their daily lives in this dystopian future.

There will be a much larger focus on world-building in Dying Light 2, with players actions and choices affecting the communities of survivors that inhabit the game’s world. There will be multiple endings, and the game looks to really lean into the narrative side of things this time around. As legendary storyteller Chris Avellone is serving as the games narrative designer, this should come as little surprise.

The original Dying Light was notable for its parkour movement system, which enabled players to overcome vast hordes of the undead with their increased mobility. It was also crucial to players survival after dark as the terrifying Virals would come out to play. These Virals are capable of scaling sheer walls and seeing in the dark and are peerless hunters of men. They served as the games greatest challenge, and their unscripted arrival would always make for tense encounters.

The zombies in Dying Light 2 will have their own life cycles, with these monstrosities having the ability to transform into grotesque new beasts. Twinfinite also got the chance to see the game behind closed doors last year, and you can read about our impressions here.
