The developers introduced the elements exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version including the ability to dash and to acquire experience from monsters killed while on horseback, new monster mounts, and three different battle speeds.

We also get to see the brand new photo mode, the ability to set the appearance of your equipment separately, and a feature to access the forge anywhere.

On top of that, they showcased the 2D Mode and the other features that originally came in the 3DS version.

The Spell of Resurrection will also include new features alongside compatibility with the PS4 and 3DS versions. You’ll now be able to select your starting point.

We even get to see the ability of your companions to react to your actions during battle and (while it was shown only in a static image) to actually say banter lines, making combat more lively.

One last classy touch is that Rouge Sensei, the teacher of the Academie de Notre Maitre les Medailles that stands behind the counter at the shop is getting her 3DS look with a white lab coat and blond hair. In the PS4 version, for some reason, she was simply dressed in a bunny girl outfit.

We also learn about the special editions that will be released in Japan on top of the standard one (priced at 7,980 yen plus taxes).

The Gorgeous Edition costing 9,980 yen plus taxes will come with a voice drama DLC, a DLC that will let you switch between Japanese and English voices, two costumes (for the hero and Veronica), and the Happy Adventurer Set.

The Gorgeous Dream Edition priced at 14,800 yen plus taxes it comes with a B5 drama script volume and an electronic memo pad.

Incidentally, the drama DLC (of which you can see a tease in the video below) on its own will be priced at 1,500 yen plus taxes.

Last, but not least, the Dragon Quest XI S Roto Edition will feature a beautiful special edition Nintendo Switch alongside with the Gorgeous Edition.

You can see them all in the gallery, alongside a breakdown of the features coming to Switch.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition (yes, that’s a mouthful) will launch for Nintendo Switch on September 27, as we learned yesterday during the Nintendo Direct. You can also watch a trailer showcased during Square Enix’s own E3 presentation.
