After months of pleading, hoping, and wishing by players, Poker has finally arrived in Red Dead Online. If you’re here, you’re probably wondering how to play Poker in Red Dead Online and get started on gambling your hard earned cash away. Let’s break down what you need to know.

Poker in Red Dead Online

The first thing you need to know is where to actually find a table and get started. Major Red Dead Redemption 2 towns with big Saloons like Blackwater and Tumbleweed will offer up Poker tables that you can sit down and play at.

If you’re ever not sure, just simply to go the map, zoom in on a town, and then look for the Chip symbol. If a locale has that, that means it has a table for you to jump in on.

Once you arrive head over to the table and Triangle/Y to enter the Poker menu. From there you have the option to buy-in on a public game for $25.00 or host your own private match. In either scenario, the name of the game is Texas Hold ‘Em, the most well known and popular form of Poker in recent years.

Public Poker in Red Dead Online

If you want to play a public game, you’ll buy in enter matchmaking and then you’ll be seated. You will always have to wait until the start of the next hand before jumping in. The maximum number of players is six (this applies for both public and private matches).

Prompts for calling, checking, folding, viewing your hand and the community cards are all shown on the bottom right corner of the game screen at all times while playing Poker in Red Dead Online.

At any point, you can leave and you’ll drop out of your current hand and leave with your pot.

Hosting a Private Game

If you elect to host a private game of Poker, you’ll sit down on your own, and have the ability to invite players directly to your game to buy-in. From the in-game menu, you can send an invite to anyone on your friends list, crew, or recent players that you have played with.

So if you have a good game going with someone in a public match in Red Dead Online and want to start your own, considering inviting them along with anyone from your crew or friends list that happens to be online. Everyone invited will be able to buy in and they will join at the start of the next hand.

Note that when you leave a match, you’ll be dropped out outside of the Saloon and you’ll need to mosey on back inside to join another one.
