Mortal Kombat 11 TV Spot Gives First Look at Returning Fighter, Kitana

Mortal Kombat fans rejoice! Kitana has entered the fight!

In a brand new official TV spot released today for Mortal Kombat 11, viewers got their first look, albeit not in the form of official gameplay, at fan-favorite fighter, Kitana. Fans familiar with the series will recognize this character immediately once her infamous fan blades make an appearance.

In the TV spot, viewers and players alike are asked what they fight for. Do you fight for justice? Do you fight for revenge? What do you fight for?

All the while, some people are walking through what appears to be an abandoned warehouse of sorts, subtly showcasing their Mortal Kombat-like powers such as Sub-Zero’s icy hands or Kitana’s fan blades.

Then, the camera pans around the girl with the fan blades as she transforms into none other than Kitana. She quickly jumps into the action to take on Scorpion in a quick match up.

Unfortunately, this match up is not in-game. Instead, NetherRealm opted for a CGI fight which means fans hoping to see some official Kitana gameplay will have to wait until a further date.

Nonetheless, this TV spot seemingly confirmed Kitana, a character many have been hoping to see, as playable in the next iteration of the famed Mortal Kombat series.

Here’s an official statement on Kitana’s return from NetherRealm:

“The 10,000-year-old princess of Edenia grew up believing she was Shao Kahn’s biological daughter and served as one of his deadliest warriors. When Kitana learned the truth, she fought against Shao Kahn’s attempted conquest of Earthrealm, eventually dying in battle. After being resurrected as an evil revenant version of her former self, Kitana now rules the Netherrealm alongside revenant Liu Kang, dedicated to the destruction of all the realms.”

Mortal Kombat releases for $59.99 on April 23 for PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One.
