Best Zelda: Breath of the Wild Mods That You Have to See in Action

breath of the wild mods, zelda,

Modding in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is not allowed, and could end up with getting your account banned or other action from Nintendo.

However, that hasn’t stopped some players from trying it anyway. These five mods are the most creative and fun ones we’ve seen to date. Enjoy the efforts below, but if you decide to try it for yourself, do so at your own risk, we don’t condone nor recommend that you do.

Playable Bowsette

Best Zelda: Breath of the Wild Mods

The first one (done by Lynard Killer) on our list of the best Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild mods gives us a Bowsette character swap. If you don’t know where Bowsette came from, the creation popped into existence by way of the Super Crown.

This Crown turns Toadette into Peachette, which of course, confused the internet. Someone then thought, “hey, what would happen if Bowser put on the Super Crown?”

Bowsette is the result. With this well-designed skin, not only does it turn Link into Bowsette but her mannerisms are different from Link’s as well. The trailer shows her wielding a flaming sword and let me tell you that Bowsette is way cooler than Link will ever be.

For more info, you can check out Lynards YouTube page.

Kingdom Hearts X Hyrule

Best Zelda: Breath of the Wild Mods

If you are a fan of Kingdom Hearts and Breath of the Wild, then this mod right here might get you very very excited. This one, by YamGaming, brings Sora and his Key Blade into the world of Hyrule. If you’ve ever dreamed of fighting Ganon with a Key Blade over the Master Sword then now you can live out your dream.

You can even change the dye colors on Sora’s costume letting you customize his outfit until you find the perfect combo of colors. You can find info about this mod over at Gamebanana.

Cloud Strife and His Buster Sword

Best Zelda: Breath of the Wild Mods

cloud, breath of the wild mods

This mod replaces the Soldier set in Breath of the Wild with Cloud Strife’s outfit from the recent Dissidia game and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. His blond spiky hair flows beautifully in the wind, and once you get your hands on the motorcycle that’s offered in the DLC, you can live out a fantasy of Cloud riding around Hyrule.

Being that this would be Cloud’s first solo mission without his ragtag group of friends, using the Buster Sword will be your only means of combat. Nobody will be around to heal you as Aerith did in Final Fantasy VII before she… you know…

Thanks to Austin for this gameplay video showing the mod in action. You can find more info on the Cloud mod and the Buster Sword mod here and here

Mario and Cappy

Best Zelda: Breath of the Wild Mods

This Breath of the Wild mods switches Link out for another Nintendo hero, Mario and his trusty hat, Cappy. This Breath of the Wild mod changes the boomerang that players are used to into Mario’s cap, even changing the physics making the hat throw feel similar to Super Mario Odyssey.

Mario and Link have been together in side games, but nothing this ambitious. What better way than to run around a dangerous world with just a hat on your head? How cool would it be to defeat Ganon with just an accessory? Cappy taking down Ganon would be quite the upset.

You can watch the mod in action right here and for more info on downloading Mario to Breath of the Wild, check out Gamebanana.

Zelda Takes the Spotlight

Best Zelda: Breath of the Wild Mods

We’ve never gotten a proper game in the Zelda series that actually stars the princess herself, but with this Breath of the Wild mod, fans can now play as the girl that possesses the wisdom piece of the Triforce.

Oh and this isn’t just a skin of Zelda simply placed on Link’s model. There is voice acting that was created just for this version of Zelda; there are exclusive costumes just for her and even her paraglider has a different look than Link’s.

The bulk of this playable Zelda mod was created by a modder that goes by QNando, but several other people helped out on the paraglider and Zelda’s voice-overs; you can check out this mod right here.

Well, those are our picks for some of the best Zelda: Breath of the Wilds mods out there right now! If you happen to come across any cool ones, please be sure to let us know down in the comments below.
