How to Lightning Reverse in Sekiro

Recommended Videos

Developed by FromSoftware, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a brand new third-person action game with a deep combat system and various skill trees to dive into. Here’s how to perform a lightning reverse in Sekiro.

The lightning reverse technique is first introduced to you when you get your rematch with Genichiro in Ashina Castle. After scoring two Deathblows on him and moving into phase two, Genichiro will start using lightning-based attacks.

To do a lightning reverse in Sekiro, you need to be in the air and hit the attack button (R1 or RB) just as the lightning strikes you. This will allow you to direct the lightning back towards your opponent, inflicting them with the shock ailment and stun them for a few seconds.

If you fail to pull it off, your character will be stunned instead, leaving you completely open to attacks during that window.

This is a key strategy for winning the boss fight against Genichiro, as he has a tendency to leap into the air and use lightning attacks. It’s also worth noting that you cannot afford to get physically hit by his sword when he’s charging up the attack, as it will likely stun you and prevent you from actually using the lightning reverse technique.

It’s a pretty risky move to pull off in Sekiro, so if you’re not confident in actually performing this technique, it’s still viable to back off and dodge the lightning before going in for a counterattack. You just won’t be able to damage his Posture as quickly, and the fight will be dragged on for a little longer.

That’s all you need to know about how to lightning reverse in Sekiro. Be sure to check our Sekiro guide wiki for more tips and information in the game.
