Today Sega just published a brand new survey asking fans their opinion on several topics, including the future of many of its most popular franchises.
The survey starts and ends in a fairly uninteresting way, asking about which platforms you own, which ones you want to buy, whether you pre-order or not, if you buy digital, and more.
The most intriguing the part is in the middle, asking fans for their insight on what they would like for the future of several franchises.
The franchise you’re called to provide an opinion on are Sonic the Hedgehog, Yakuza, Super Monkey Ball, Bayonetta, Phantasy Star, Phantasy Star Online, Sakura Wars, Shining, Valkyria Chronicles, and Puyo Puyo.
About those franchises, you’re also asked if you’d like new DLC, merchandise, remakes or remasters, sequels or next installments, or ports.
The available platforms for ports are PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC for Sonic the Hedgehog, Yakuza, Super Monkey Ball, Phantasy Star, Phantasy Star Online, Sakura Wars, Shining, Valkyria Chronicles, and Puyo Puyo.
The Bayonetta series gets options only for ports on PS4, Xbox One, and PC (which is understandable since all the released games are already available on Switch).
Of course, we’re talking about whole series, not specific games. For example, most of the Yakuza games are or will soon be available for PS4, but Yakuza: Dead Souls isn’t, which is why the PS4 option is available.
As usual, we should stress that this survey (like all surveys) should not be taken as an expression of specific intent to release any of the contents or ports listed. It’s normally just a way for the publisher to explore its customers’ taste and desires, and for you to let them know what you would like to see. Yet, we shouldn’t extrapolate any promise or announcement from it.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first survey of this kind coming from within the Sega group in recent weeks. We saw one from Atlus USA, and one from the Japanese arm of the house of Persona.
