Murder Detective Jack the Ripper Turned Into “Deformed Detective” in Nippon Ichi’s April Fool

Murder Detective Jack the Ripper

Since it’s April 1 in Japan, game developers big and small are scrambling to drop creative April Fools on their unsuspecting (ok, not really, everyone expects them by now) fans. Nippon Ichi has just joined the bandwagon with a video of Murder Detective Jack the Ripper.

The video’s description mentions that the game will change its title to “Deformed Detective Jack the Ripper” to improve quality.

Of course, it’s as false as it comes, but it does include a small degree of truth. The cutesy characters you’ll see in the video below are from the “Bonus Theater” feature that will indeed appear in the game, in order to bring some (likely dark) humor among murder cases and difficult moral choices.

I don’t know about you, but I find them absolutely adorable.

If you want to see more, you can enjoy the latest trailer, the first trailer and images released a few weeks ago, and an extensive gallery of screenshots showing the first case.

Murder Detective Jack the Ripper will be released in Japan for PS4 and Nintendo Switch on April 25. A western release has not been announced yet. Pretty please, NIS America? Don’t make me wait too long for this one.
