The post-launch period for Anthem has not been smooth at all. From the game’s harsh critical reception to fan pushback about loot drop nerfs, Anthem is in a bit of a rough spot at the moment.
Things have only gotten worse when players reported that the game was crashing their PS4. Thankfully, though, EA and BioWare are aware of this problem, and are in the middle of pushing out a patch to fix these issues.
In addition to that, if the game has caused your PS4 to stop responding, BioWare’s Head of Live Service Chad Robertson mentions that manually powering down your PS4 and restarting it could help to fix the issue.
UPDATE: We’ve identified several causes for the temp power-down crash some PS4 users experienced. Fixes for the top issues are in patch next week. If you encounter a game crash where your PS4 console won’t respond, you can manually power down and restart it – no risk of damage.

This shouldn’t brick your PS4 in any way, and should hopefully allow you to rebuild the console’s data base safely and jump back in without any interruptions. Robert also mentions that they haven’t discovered any instances where the game has bricked a PS4 console.
A patch should be pushed out next week with more permanent fixes for all the crashing that’s going on.
Anthem is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. BioWare has already detailed a roadmap with future events and content coming to the game soon.
