Fortnite Vending Machine Bug Gives Out Multiple Items for Free, Epic Working on Fix

fortnite vending machine bug

This week, Epic Games made a change to how vending machines work in Fortnite. Rather than requiring a set amount of materials, players can now simply claim one free weapon before the machine disappears for good. Turns out, it hasn’t taken long for players to find a bug where multiple players can claim the item multiple times at once.

The vending machine bug in Fortnite, brought to the attention of Epic Games by Reddit user u/Alukarulz, requires all members of a team to press and hold the button to interact with the machine at the same time. As long as this is done correctly, the vending machine will spit out multiple items (including ammo) for each person who got involved.

As you may have guessed, this isn’t how the changes to Fortnite’s vending machines were intended to work, or be used by players. Epic Games employee MrPopoTFS replied to the thread on Reddit saying “Teamwork makes the dream work, but unfortunately, this is not intended. Thank you for the video, we’re looking into this issue.”

Exactly when the fix for the vending machine bug will come remains to be seen, so if you want to check it out for yourself, you might want to get some friends together and act fast.

In other news, this week’s content update brought The Baller, a hamster ball-style vehicle equipped with a boost function and a Grappler on the front, to Fortnite. We think it’s some of the best fun you can have without eliminating players. It also reduced the rarity of Heavy Assault Rifles. You can press ‘F’ to pay respects now.
