How to Extract Loot from the Dark Zone in The Division 2

Recommended Videos

The Dark Zone was the definitive and most distinct feature in the original game, and it’s back in the sequel. Here’s what you need to know about how to extract loot from the Dark Zone in The Division 2.

As always, the Dark Zone continues to be one of the most dangerous places you can visit in The Division 2, and it’s also one of the most lucrative. Any loot you pick up in this area is contaminated and needs to be airlifted out safely before you can actually equip it.

Extraction Points

The first thing you’ll want to do after picking up loot is open your map and look for an extraction point. These are indicated very clearly in the game as bright orange icons that look like arrows.

Head to the designated area, then hold the square button (or X button on Xbox One) to call in a helicopter for extraction. A timer will count down, and you’ll need to wait around 15 to 20 seconds for the chopper to show up in The Division 2.

The second you fire that flare, nearby agents will be aware of your position and know that you’re trying to extract loot.

Just like in the first game, surrounding players will likely be tempted to attack you and steal your loot, so be on your toes and don’t trust anyone.

Once the chopper arrives, head there and hold the square button to attach the loot. Then, you’ll need to wait another 15 seconds for the chopper to leave, which guarantees that your loot is saved.

Once you’re out of the Dark Zone, go check your Stash box for the loot you extracted, and you’ll be able to transfer it to your inventory like any other piece of equipment.

Other Players’ Loot in Division 2

Another thing to note is that whenever you pick up loot in the Dark Zone, a yellow pack will appear on your character model, right beneath your regular backpack. If you see other players with a yellow pack, you can kill them to steal their loot, but be aware that other players can see when you have stuff as well.

That’s all you need to know about how to extract loot from the Dark Zone in The Division 2. Be sure to check our Division 2 guide wiki for more tips and information in the game.
