The Division 2 will surely be a fun game, but playing it with friends regardless of platform would make it even more exciting. If you’re here you’re probably wondering about cross platform play in The Division 2.
Years ago, the idea of playing a game with a friend on a different platform than you was but a fever dream. It was something everyone wanted to happen but most assumed never would.
The popularity of games like Fortnite and Rocket League though has helped open the door to crossplay potential across all three major home consoles.
With that floodgate open, it was only a matter of time before every multiplayer game asked for the special key to unlock cross platform play. Some have achieved this and some have yet to do so.
Where does Ubisoft’s upcoming games-as-a-service sequel land in this conversation? Here’s what you need to know about cross platform play and crossplay in The Division 2.
While nobody wants to be that person, we’ll be the ones to break your heart this time: there will be no crossplay or cross platform play of any kind in The Division 2.
While we don’t know if this is a longstanding and permanent decision, we do know that at launch, the only people you’ll be able to play with are those on the same platform as you. Perhaps though, this could change, but for now, past history isn’t on our side.
If the game reaches large enough numbers, perhaps Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment can present a compelling case to update it with a crossplay feature.

You can play The Division 2 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One and you can begin doing so now with the pricier gold edition of the game. The game releases Friday, March 15, for everyone else.
