What the Three Starters Are in Pokemon Sword & Shield

Recommended Videos

Generation 8 of Pokemon has been revealed during a short Nintendo Direct and we’ve been introduced to the new setting, what the game will look like on Nintendo Switch, and more importantly some of the Pokemon we’ll see on our adventure. Here is everything you need to know about what the three starters are in Pokemon Sword & Shield.

Pokemon Sword & Shield seem to be continuing the usual format for RPGs in the series. You’ll be traveling a varied world, taking on trainers, and engaging in random encounters. The approach is certainly remaining the same when it comes to the starters in the game.

Just has been in the case in every game since Red and Blue, there are three starters, with one being Water Type, another being Fire Type, and the third being a Grass Type. Here’s a rundown of the three starters that will be in Pokemon Sword & Shield.

Three Starters – Pokemon Sword & Shield

  • Grookey is the Grass Type starter in the game and is described by the Pokemon Company as ‘a mischievous Chimp Pokémon that is full of boundless curiosity.”
  • Sobble is the Water Type starter in the game and is described by the Pokemon Company as “a somewhat timid Water Lizard Pokémon that shoots out attacks as it hides itself in the water.”
  • Scorbunny is the Fire Type starter in the game and is described by the Pokemon Company as “a Rabbit Pokémon that is always running about, bursting with energy.”

Evolutions

It would be a safe guess to say that the three starters in Pokemon Sword & Shield will each have two evolutions, as others have in previous games. However, they are yet to be revealed. With the games due to release later in 2019, though, the wait for the information shouldn’t be too far away.

We’ll be sure to update you here once the evolutions for each of them are revealed.

That’s everything you need to know about what the three starters are in Pokemon Sword & Shield. For more on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
