While Electronic Arts’ financial results weren’t exactly the most flattering of the past few years, the publisher had a few surprises in store for its conference call for investors and analysts.
We hear that two well-known franchises are getting new games, and those are Need for Speed and Plants vs. Zombies.
Both games should come during the fiscal year 2020, which according to Electronic Arts’ calendar means between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2020.
This goes to add to a rather rich slate which includes two games by Respawn Entertainment (assuming that the “Premium Experience” mentioned for the Titanfall universe is a full-fledged game).
The latest Need for Speed game was Payback by Ghost Games, released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017. We’re pretty much right on time for a new one, given that the gap will be two years by the fall of 2019.
Mainline Plants vs. Zombies games have been absent for a bit longer, with Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 released at the beginning of 2016 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It remains to be seen if Electronic Arts will stick to the past calendar and release the game at the beginning of 2020 or earlier than that.
