How to Use the Lighter in Metro Exodus

Recommended Videos

The bullet lighter was one of the most iconic and useful items in previous Metro games, and it remains so in Metro Exodus. Modified from a 12.7mm round, Artyom’s handy tool can be used to in a variety of different situations. It’s always on your person, and it never runs out of fuel, so make good use of it! Here’s how to use the lighter in Metro Exodus.

Using the Lighter

Artyom’s trusty lighter cannot be unequipped, so you don’t need to worry about making sure it’s packed when you’re away from your base. Hold L1 to bring up the equipment menu, then select the lighter from the list of items by pressing square (or whichever button you have assigned).

Artyom will automatically pop the top and light it up, so you don’t need to worry about that. And, as mentioned above, you also don’t need to worry about the lighter running out of fuel. To put the lighter away, simply press R3, or whatever you have assigned for “melee.”

When to Use It in Metro Exodus

Like many other things in the immersive world of Metro, the lighter is useful in the same situations you might find it useful in real-life. Use it to ignite fuses, to illuminate text and your compass, or to scare away spiders and burn away their webs. Okay, I guess that last thing doesn’t happen very often in real-life, but it makes sense!

This handy tool can even be used simultaneously with a weapon. However, this only works for some weapons, and it will reduce your accuracy. Do note, as well, that it is not helpful in situations that require stealth.

That’s everything you need to know about how and when to use the lighter in Metro Exodus. There may be other uses for Artyom’s trusty flame out there in the Russian wastes– if you come across any new ones, lets us know in the comments below.
