Far Cry New Dawn sees players returning to Hope County, Montana once again. This time, though, we’re heading back 17 years after the events of Far Cry 5‘s ending, so plenty has changed. Still, exploring the full extent of Hope County will take a seriously long time on foot, so vehicles are your go-to. Here’s how to repair vehicles in Far Cry New Dawn.

How to Unlock the Repair Torch

In order to repair vehicles in Far Cry New Dawn, you’ll need to get the Repair Torch perk. To do this, press the touch pad on PS4, or the View button on Xbox One to open the map. Then, press R1 or RB to tab over to the Perks menu.

How to Get More Perk Points to Unlock it

The Repair Torch perk is the second icon from the left on the top row. However, you’ll notice it requires 3 Perk Points in order to unlock. Perk Points can be unlocked by completing missions in Far Cry New Dawn, as well as taking on Challenges, which can be checked from the ‘Challenges’ tab just next to the Perks menu.

How to Use the Repair Torch & Repair Vehicles in Far Cry New Dawn

Once you’ve got enough, simply press and hold X on PS4 or A on Xbox One to purchase the Repair Torch perk from the menu. Now all you need to do to use it is equip the Repair Torch by opening up the weapon wheel (L1/ LB) and selecting it with the right analog stick. Now, walk over to a vehicle and press and hold R2/ RT to begin repairing the vehicle.

As you repair vehicles in Far Cry New Dawn, you’ll see cosmetic improvements being made to it. For example, they’ll probably stop spouting smoke, or just won’t look as beaten up generally. The more damage a vehicle has taken, the longer it will take to repair, so keep this in mind.

The Repair Torch can also be used to open safes in Far Cry New Dawn, which often contain valuable items for crafting better weapons or vehicles to help you take down the twins.

Another Way to Repair Vehicles

Aside from the Repair Torch, there’s also an incredibly handy perk that causes vehicles to slowly repair themselves while you’re in them. It’s not quite as efficient as the Repair Torch, but it’ll still do the job. This is the Mechanic perk, which costs six perk points, but also reduces weapon overheating on machine guns.

That’s all you need to know on how to repair vehicles in Far Cry New Dawn and unlock the repair torch. For more tips, tricks, and guides for your adventure across post-apocalyptic Hope County, be sure to check out our Far Cry New Dawn guide wiki.
