Respawn‘s new free-to-play battle royale game has just launched and you’re going to want to jump into the action with your friends. Here’s everything you need to know about how to invite & play with friends in Apex Legends.

Since you can only play Apex Legends in Trios at the time of its launch, you can either join forces with a couple of friends or jump into a match with two strangers. There’s no Solo or Duos play options, so teammates are your only choice.

Thankfully, if you’ve got friends playing the game, it’s pretty simple to invite them to your lobby.

When you start up the game and see your character in the lobby, you’ll see two + signs in boxes to your character’s left and right. If you move over to one of them with your left stick or mouse, it will glow red.

Then, you can press X/A, or click on it, to open up the friends menu screen. Here you will be able to change the privacy settings of your party by changing the option below your name, or invite friends.

All of your friends are shown, with those that are online shown in green and those that are online and playing Apex Legends shown in blue.

If you move the cursor over the player you want to invite, you will be able to press triangle/Y to inspect them, X/A to invite them, or square/X to join their game. Simply press X/A to start to invite them, confirm it, and you’ll just have to wait for them to accept and join your lobby.

As a bonus, when playing with friends, you can a 5% bonus to Survival Time XP.
