Dead Space

During the Dreams beta, there were two creations in particular that stood out. First was the PT remake that reminded us how great that lost gem was, and the other was a scene from the first Dead Space.

Catchily called ‘Dead Space thing REVAMP’, it was just a short section of the game, but it showcased the potential of Dreams’ tools.

Of course, it’ll take a lot more time and work to recreate the entire game, and some of the more open areas simply might not be possible, but since there have been no signs of the series continuing since the launch of Dead Space 3 in early 2013, and EA are generally against the idea of remasters, Dreams might be the best place to see it return.

As we saw with this creation, and the PT one, survival horror titles may be a good option for creators diving into Media Molecule’s game due to the linear and enclosed nature of many of them.

Rock Band Unplugged

Rhythm games could be a great section of Dreams’ creation library. Of course, the likes of the core Rock Band and Guitar Hero games rely on the peripherals, but Rock Band had a few controller-based spin-offs.

Rock Band Unplugged on the PSP, which is nearly 10 years old, or even Rock Band Blitz, were great alternatives to the main games, adding tactical play on top of simply playing all the notes.

As we saw from Fret Star, a game that was made in Dreams’ beta, it’s possible to make basic rhythm games in Media Molecule’s upcoming title, so it’s likely possible to make something like Unplugged.

Of course, the licensed music would be a stumbling block for a remake, but creating a similar game with original music would still be a great idea.

Goldeneye

No matter how fond our memories of Goldeneye on the N64 are, whether it be the scramble for Odd Job or paintball mode with three friends, it’s certainly not a good-looking game nowadays.

It’s difficult to know just yet how possible multiplayer creations will be in Dreams, but the iconic levels will surely be basic enough to recreate in some form. Smaller maps with defined boundaries are something that could be perfect in Dreams, and recreations could branch out to other classic multiplayer maps.

No matter how it plays, it’d be great to return to the perfect hiding place that was the toilets in Facility, or the big open rooms of Complex.

It might be simple fun, but Goldeneye on N64 is not a game that you’ll want to go back and play, so, if it’s possible, Dreams might be the perfect place to see it return.

Burnout Revenge

Other than the remaster of Burnout Paradise that released last year, we’ve seen countless ‘spiritual successors’ to the Burnout series over the years and no sign of an actual new entry or remake.

OnRush, Split/Second, and even the upcoming Dangerous Driving, are all racing titles with a focus on destructive action, but none has managed to capture audiences like Burnout Revenge did, at least not yet.

Also, since the older Burnout games are more linear than many recent racing titles, since there’s no open world to explore or landmarks to visit, it would theoretically make more sense in Dreams.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that it is a technically straightforward game, but as the 2017 Dreams Game Awards trailer showed, fast-paced racing games will certainly be possible in Dreams. If creators can nail the destruction aspect, it’d be great to see the classic Burnout style titles return.

Metal Gear Solid

Konami titles tend to come up all the time in the conversation of what remakes gamers want to see, and few titles arise as much as Metal Gear Solid.

After Kojima’s departure following the release of The Phantom Pain and then the more than underwhelming Metal Gear Survive, it’s difficult to know where the series is going to go from here.

Of course, a full remake in the mold of last year’s The Shadow of the Colossus would be perfect, but that’s beginning to look unlikely. Maybe the talented Dreams creators could take the series back to its roots by remaking it in Media Molecule’s game.

The often long and complex cutscenes, especially the wacky ones that Kojima was known for, may be a little difficult to re-create, but updating the tactical espionage action of the first Metal Gear Solid could be great. Maybe it’d even prompt Konami to get the series back on track.

Silent Hill

We have already mentioned that remakes of classic horror games could be a key section of Dreams’ creations library, following PT and Dead Space.

Of course, Silent Hill is older than those two titles, and would likely look very different from how many of us remember, but returning to the classic setting could be incredible in Dreams.

With the franchise being another Konami property, a lot of the demand for a remake stems from fans being unsure about what the publisher’s plans are for it, especially after the PT debacle, so a Dreams remake could be the best we’re ever going to get.

It is one of the seminal PlayStation titles and is still regarded as one of the best ever survival horror titles, so seeing it return in such an ingenious way would be amazing.

Pokemon Snap

We were treated to a wonderful Pokemon Yellow remake just last year with Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, but the spin-off remake many fans want to see is Pokemon Snap.

It originally came to Nintendo 64 in 1999 and it’s a very basic game if you go back to it now. That being said, taking pictures of cute Pokemon, whether that be on-rails like in Snap, or in an open world of sorts, will always be fun.

Due to when it released, Pokemon Snap saw you just roll around on a rail while taking pictures of Generation 1 Pokemon. There wasn’t really a lot to it aside from the novelty of seeing Pokemon out in the wild and putting together an album of photos.

With everything that has been added to the world of Pokemon over the years, such as new characters, locations, items, and hundreds of new Pokemon, a Snap remake in Dreams could be much bigger and varied than the original.

Also, if the on-rails design idea remains, it’s also likely to be a pretty simple creation to put together with the tools that Media Molecule are going to give players.
