Capcom Japan is hosting a live stream of the upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake right now, showing off some gameplay footage and other elements of the game. In addition to that, the company also announced that the game would be getting some DLC costumes at launch.
As a nice nod to longtime fans who played the original PS1 game, these costumes are called “98 Classic” and are essentially the PS1 polygonal models from the game.
Capcom also mentioned that the DLC costumes will be paid at launch, but they’ll be made free to everyone on March 22. No pricing details have been announced just yet, but if you don’t feel like shelling out money for it, you could just wait for it to go free.
Resident Evil 2 was originally released for the PS1 20 years ago, and the upcoming remake is essentially a re-imagining of that game, and a reconstruction of the game from the ground up. Instead of tank controls, we’ll be getting a third-person camera instead, along with a gorgeous presentation of the iconic police station.
The Resident Evil 2 remake is set to be released for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on Jan. 25. We’ll have our official review for the game up later today as well, so stay tuned for that.
