How to Get the Epilogue and Secret Ending in Kingdom Hearts 3

Recommended Videos

If you’ve played any of the Kingdom Hearts games, you know that there is more to the story that comes after the credits roll. Here’s how to get the epilogue and secret ending for Kingdom Hearts 3.

Following suit with the rest of the series, Kingdom Hearts 3 does in fact have not only an epilogue — which might have been called a Final Episode in other entries — but a secret ending as well.

Surprisingly, no matter what you do as of now (Jan. 26), both the epilogue and the secret ending are impossible to unlock.

That’s because Square Enix and Tetsuya Nomura decided to keep those out of the base game, with incoming patches bringing those two additions to the game’s narrative at a later date (for spoilers sake).

Fortunately, that later date isn’t too far away. On Jan. 30, the epilogue will be patched into the game and the next day, on Jan. 31, the secret ending will be patched in.

Update Jan. 31: Kingdom Hearts 1.03 title update went live today, adding in the epilogue and secret ending for the game.

The only thing you have to do to view the epilogue is quite simple: beat the game.

Sure, the game won’t be quick, but if you’re someone who’s interested in getting to the epilogue, you’re probably someone who plans to beat the game. After rolling the credits, you should see that you have the epilogue unlocked.

Getting the secret ending, however, in Kingdom Hearts 3 is a bit more involved.

Throughout each world, there are Lucky Marks hidden. They’re shaped like Mickey’s head (and are basically Kingdom Hearts versions of Hidden Mickeys) and usually integrated into your surroundings so as not to stick out like a sore thumb.

When you find them, snap a picture of them using Sora’s new smartphone-like device. The more of these you find, the more likely you are to get the secret ending.

How many exactly you must snap is unknown at the moment (we’ll update the post when we know more), but the amount you will need to find varies based on your difficulty.

If you are playing on Beginner difficulty, you will need to find every single Lucky Mark.

If you’re on Standard, you’ll be able to get the secret ending even if you miss a few Lucky Marks. As you raise the difficulty, the number of Lucky Marks you need to find to get the secret ending decreases.

For those of you that might have already unlocked the secret ending and epilogue in Kingdom Hearts 3, here’s what you need to do. To watch the secret ending in Kingdom Hearts 3, you’ll have unlocked a cutscene called “Yozora.” This will be added to the Theater on the main menu, and you can watch it from here.
