Eggs symbolize new beginnings and a chance for renewal. In Pokemon, eggs symbolize a chance to finally get that shiny Riolu with perfect stats you’ve always wanted, so its no surprise Niantic is ringing in the New Year with an egg-themed event, the Adventure Sync Hatchathon.
Trainers who logged into Pokemon GO earlier today likely received a few more 5 km and 10 km eggs than usual. Heck, thanks to the overpowered combination of one free single-use incubator per day and double hatching speed, most of my egg slots are filled with fresh orange and blue eggs. While this overabundance of rarer eggs is the main draw of the Hatchathon, it’s far from the event’s only feature.
During the Hatchathon, every time a player hatches an egg, they will receive twice as much Candy and Stardust as normal. Since 10 km eggs already award plenty of Candy and Stardust, trainers can look forward to enough of both to quickly level up and evolve their newly-hatched Pokemon.
But that’s not all, folks! As the event’s title clearly indicates, players who use the new Adventure Sync can earn their way toward hatching their eggs (and obtaining Candy through their partner Pokemon) without playing the game. All players need to do is activate Adventure Sync in the Pokemon GO settings menu, and they are ready to rake in the Candies, Stardust, and Pokemon while walking around.
Of course, trainers can’t rely on Adventure Sync for everything. They still need to have the game open to catch wild Pokemon, interact with PokeStops and Gyms, and actually hatch the eggs.
Pokemon GO’s Adventure Sync Hatchathon is scheduled to run until January 15th, so get out there and pray you get the hatches you want. Arceus knows I’ve received way too many Trapinches and not one Shinx to show for it.
