Marvelous Entertainment’s Peach Ball: Senran Kagura has recently been released in Japan, and it just received a rather exceptional endorsement.
Acclaimed NieR: Automata Director Yoko Taro took to Twitter today to express his feelings about the title.
真面目な話、何かのIPに結びつけてでも、ピンボールってジャンルをコンシューマーのパッケージで出したのはスゴイと思う。いや、本当。 https://t.co/GY9uRtFoIi

The tweets translate as follows:
“Peach Ball: Senran Kagura! In times like this, “Throwing pinballs at female characters” is a challenging thing to portray. I have a feeling that this might be the first and last time we can play such games in a consumer game machine. This is a must-see for pinball fans for many reasons!”
“Seriously, releasing a pinball game as a consumer package, even if they had to tie it to some sort of IP, I think is amazing. I’m not joking.”
Besides directing games beloved by fans and critics (some more than others), Yoko Taro is himself a gamer who loves classic pinball, as you can see from this adorable mini-documentary by the good folks at Toco Toco. Due to that, it’s not surprising to see him so enthusiastic about a pinball game getting a physical release.
Peach Ball: Senran Kagura launched in Japan exclusively for Nintendo Switch on December 13th. No western release has been announced at the moment of this writing. If you’re curious about the game, you can check out some recent gameplay. Just keep in mind that it’s rather unsafe for work.
