Surviving on an alien planet is tough, especially with so many dangerous creatures around. You’ll need to collect tons of materials to craft new items and survive the harsh ocean in Subnauticca. Here’s how to get Aerogel, a major crafting component, in Subnautica.

This light liquid component is used to craft a number of different items in Subnautica, particularly the Prawn Suit. It’s useful, functional, and really simple to make.

Since Aerogel is an advanced material in Subnautica, you’ll need the following materials to craft it:

  • Gel Sack
  • Ruby

When crafting Aerogel, you’ll need to use the Fabricator in Subnautica. There’s one in your starting base as well as in Lifepod 5, so keep that in mind if you plan on crafting it.

Where to Find Gel Sack

Gel Sacks are one of the main components for this advanced material, and there’s really no shortage of them in Subnautica. You can find this particular resource attached to cave walls that can be harvested by hand.

It’s easy to spot Gel Sacks thanks to their bioluminescent purple glow. On top of that, you can even cultivate these sacks if you have an Exterior Growbed in Subnautica.

Where to Get Ruby

Another ingredient you will need for Aerogel are rubies, which you can find in the following locations:

  • Grand Reef
  • Lost River
  • Sea Treader’s Path

Like the Gel Sacks, they are easy to spot due to their bright red color. They even glow at night, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble looking for it.

That’s pretty much everything you need to know about how to get Aerogel in Subnautica. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
