It seems that Capcom is giving all of us a little pre-Christmas present as the company has announced that Street Fighter V will be free to play from Dec 11 to Dec 18 for PS4 and PC players.

The free trial on PS4 will require you to have a PS Plus subscription to play online with others, but you won’t need to have the service to download and try out the game by yourself or locally. According to Capcom’s Blog, “all the initial content from the original Street Fighter V and the modes introduced in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition are included for free during this time.”

All 16 original character such as Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li will be included in the free trial and sponsored advertisements will come in to play during the week-long period:

Sponsored content will be displayed in several locations in-game to remind you about costumes, bundles, and the Capcom Pro Tour. When Sponsored Content is enabled, players can obtain additional Fight Money in Ranked and Casual Matches – these bonuses come with an upper limit. Here are the places where you will see Sponsored Content:

  • Costumes: Ad Style – Every character will have an Ad Style costume where the sponsored content will appear somewhere on their clothing or model
  • Loading Ads – A sponsor will appear in the versus screen before a battle – this will not affect loading screen times
  • Stage Ads – Some tournament stages feature a sponsor like the Ring of Power

You can, of course, turn off these sponsored ads in the battle settings menu, but you’ll be missing out on some extra in-game fight money, so the choice is up to you.

Street Fighter V is now available on PS4 and PC. You can check out our original review of the game right here, and as always, keep checking back here on Twinfinite for more Street Fighter news.
