Can Spirits Be Taken Online in Smash Bros Ultimate? What You Need to Know

Recommended Videos

Spirits are the latest addition to the Smash series, giving c3haracters some pretty powerful stat boosters. While you can use them in World of Light, some might be wondering if you can take them online. Here’s everything you need to know about spirits and the online mode in Smash Bros Ultimate.

What Spirits Do

These power-ups are essentially ethereal forms of video game characters Galeem had annihilated in World of Light. While you can’t play as them, you can still assign them to your preferred fighter. That way, they can gain some unique stat buffs and passive effects that will help them in combat.

If you’ve been playing World of Light in Smash Bros Ultimate, you should have seen them crawling around the map. You can collect tons of these power-ups and level them up by feeding them snacks or through combat.

That being said, you can actually bring Spirits along in your online battles. When playing the Battle Arenas, you can choose to turn them on or off via rules. If you’re making the arena in Smash Bros Ultimate, press Y to access More Settings and toggle the power-ups to on or off.

If you’re joining another lobby, on the other hand, you can choose Public Arenas and choose to look for a group that either allows or disables spirits. That way, you can bring your favorite power-ups into battle.

How to Get Spirits

If you’re looking for more of these power-ups in Smash Bros Ultimate, you can collect them through the Adventure Mode by defeating characters who have them equipped or by unlocking them from chests.

If you manage to beat someone in combat who has a spirit you don’t have yet, you’ll trigger a shooting mini-game in which you will have to shoot the power-up through a rotating barrier. If you miss, you’ll have a chance to unlock it again later on.

That’s pretty much everything you need to know about how spirits and if you can take them online in Smash Bros Ultimate. If you’re looking for more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to search through our handy wiki.
