This new Resident Evil film will not be starring Milla Jovovich and will also be more “horror” than the last six action-packed films. The reboot will be going into production starting in 2019 with a brand-new cast and, obviously, an entirely new story.

The original Resident Evil film franchise started out in 2002 and ended up becoming the highest-grossing film series to be based on a video game, eventually getting five sequels over the course of fourteen years. The film franchise placed a character named Alice in the forefront of the story – an original character not seen in Capcom’s horror series– and follows her mission to take down the Umbrella Corporation during a virus outbreak in Raccoon City.

Most of the films follow an original story arc, but throughout the series, Alice runs into characters from the video games such as Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Jill Valentine.

There is no set release date for the reboot just yet, but once we have more information we will surely update you as the film progresses.
