Nintendo Switch Q1

It’s been a banner year for the Nintendo Switch, as 2018 has seen Nintendo continue efforts to create and bring amazing first and third-party titles to the console for fans. Staple franchises (Mario Party and Super Smash Bros.) and new IPs (Octopath Traveler) alike have proven the company is learning from the mistakes of the Wii U.

As the year draws to a close, the same question that has been asked the last two years pops up once again. Can the Nintendo Switch continue to be this consistent in 2019?

So far, the first quarter of 2019 for the Nintendo Switch is promising. Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, Trials Rising, and ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove are just a few of the titles that will help carry the console in the first few months of the year.

Be it visual novels, 2-D fighters, or even beloved ports, Q1 of 2019 for the Nintendo Switch is bound to have something that’ll catch your eye.

Nintendo Switch Q2

While the amount of releases in Q2 unsurprisingly pales in comparison to Q1, the Nintendo Switch still has some quality titles coming soon.

Yoshi’s Crafted World and the Mortal Kombat 11 port stand out as the best titles on this list, but don’t count out indie titles like Memorrha. Nintendo Switch racing fans will be thrilled with the addition of Team Sonic Racing and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, as each classic title gets an updated port to the Switch in Q2.

Flying under the radar, a new card game also makes its way to the Switch in April, as Hearthstone and Gwent fans should be eager to try out The Lord the Rings: Living Card Game.

Below is the full list of all the Nintendo Switch games confirmed to release in Q2 of 2019:

  • Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission (4/9)
  • Shovel Knight Showdown (4/9)

Nintendo Switch Q3, Q4, Unconfirmed

There is little to no detail surrounding the second half of the year for the Nintendo Switch. As of now, only three games are confirmed to launch with specific quarters in mind.

Don’t fret though, as even though there may not be actual release dates quite yet, there is a boatload of awesome games slated for release at some point in 2019.

Metroid Prime 4, a handful of Final Fantasy ports, a new Pokemon RPG, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and various highly anticipated indie titles are all expected to release in 2019. Obviously, it is important to note that none of them are confirmed to release this year, even if they are all aiming for it.

If these expected titles do release next year though, the list below reinforces the notion that the Nintendo Switch and its games are going to outsell the PS4 in 2019.
