When NieR: Automata was originally announced back in 2015, before subsequently being released early last year, it wasn’t clear just how well this game would be received. Particularly with the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild being released so close to it.

Since then, however, there’s been little reason to worry as Square Enix has been sharing news and updates of how well the game has been selling. The game was originally released exclusively for the PS4, but later came to PC via Steam and Xbox One as well.

At the time of writing, NieR: Automata has officially sold 3.5 million copies worldwide, including both physical and digital sales.

We loved NieR: Automata when it first released, praising it for its unique approach to storytelling, improved action combat, and all-around phenomenal soundtrack.

The game is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
