After a long wait, Level-5 finally revealed a brand new trailer of its upcoming JRPG Megaton-Kyuu Musashi (which translates as Megaton-Class Musashi).
The trailer provides a look at the story, the characters, and the awesome mecha that we’ll be able to enjoy in the game. It was aired at the venue at Jump Festa, but the publisher got around to release it officially just today.
This new IP was announced back at the Level-5 Vision 2016 presentation, and it’s supposed to be a multimedia franchise spanning the game, an anime series, toys, and more. Level-5 appears to be very fond of this approach as of late.
It’s a collaboration between the developer and fan-favorite manga magazine Weekly Shounen Jump, so we can expect a similar target to Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, and Dragon Ball.
It certainly doesn’t come light with anime tropes, but the video certainly looks epic.
We get to see the main hero Yamato Ichigodoji and his companions, the rough Ryugo Hijakata and the serious Teru Asami. More characters showcased are classmate and heroine Yuka Nishino, and Musashi Project Leader Sayaka Minami.
Of course, the true star of the show is the Megaton-class Musashi mecha, that certainly appears to pack a lot of punch.
At the moment, we only know that the game will be an RPG, but platforms, release window, and price are all to be determined.
When the game was first showcased, it appeared to be running on 3DS and on at least one PlayStation platform, but since two years have passed and 3DS and PS Vita are riding towards the sunset, we’ll have to wait and see on this front.
