During the first day of MechCon 2018, Piranha Games released a brand new trailer of its upcoming mech simulator MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries.
The trailer looks awesome, and you can check it out below.
If you’re unfamiliar with the MechWarrior franchise, it started in 1989, and pretty much slid into obscurity in 2002 after MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries. Its namesake is a tabletop RPG, part of FASA’s BattleTech universe. This name will probably light some bulbs since Harebrained Schemes recently released its Battletech turn-based strategy game. MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is set in the same universe, but places you in direct command of a simulated mech.
After so many years, we’re finally getting a single player MW game, and boy, it feels good.
The game was initially slated for this year, but it has been delayed to 2019. At the moment, it still doesn’t have a release date, but we do know that it’s coming for PC. If you want to see more, you can enjoy an earlier trailer showing the game’s biomes.
Update: a release date has been announced at the end of the presentation, it’s Sept. 10, 2019.
On top of the Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries news, we also get news about the Holiday Bonus in MechWarrior online, which is going to ferry some of us over. You can check them out below.
