Following the official reveal earlier today at The Game Awards, Ubisoft released a new video of its post-apocalyptic game Far Cry: New Dawn.
We learn that the game is set seventeen years after the events of Far Cry 5, in a period defined “super bloom” that follows the rain brought by the end of the nuclear winter. The world is colorful and lush as opposed to the usual post-apocalyptic stereotypes.
The game is the “next stand-alone Far Cry experience” and while this is a narrative sequel to Far Cry 5, the player is a new character coming to Hope County to the first time. That being said, we’ll see characters from the previous games. We’ll be able to see who survived and how they have changed.
The guns for hire feature will be back, and there will be two new ones in Far Cry: New Dawn. There will also be a new dog named Timber (who can actually jump into vehicles). Unfortunately, Boomer is dead. We’ll also meet a giant boar named Horatio.
The player will be able to rebuild a home base named Prosperity. We’ll have to defend it against the “Highwaymen” coming from the East. We also see more and new locations like a theme park and more. This will actually be a separate map from the open world, measuring one square kilometer.
Far Cry: New Dawn releases for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, on Feb. 15, 2019.
