Fallout 76: How to Turn Off Quest Markers

How to Turn Off Quest Markers in Fallout 76

Recommended Videos

Just as was the case in past Fallout games, in Fallout 76, you’ll pick up a lot of different main, side, and miscellaneous quests for you to complete as you explore the wasteland. Some of these might be as simple as exploring a location, while others may task you with helping restore amusement park rides ahead of the ‘tourist season.’ Here’s what you need to know to turn off quest markers in Fallout 76.

This might seem like a bit of a strange question to be seeking an answer to if you haven’t yet played Fallout 76, but give it a while. After just a few hours exploring the wasteland, we’d accrued a ton of different quests, all of which were immediately listed in the top right corner of the screen and quest markers placed on our compass at the bottom of the screen.

While helpful in principle, having all of these quest markers and text onscreen can be distracting from the task at hand. Especially when the location-based Events keep popping up and disappearing as you move around.

To turn off quest markers in Fallout 76, you’ll need to first open your Pip-Boy by pressing Circle on PS4, or B on Xbox One. Upon doing so, you’ll now need to navigate to the ‘Data’ section by using the L2 and R2 buttons (LT and RT for Xbox One players).

When you’re within the Data section, you’ll now see separate tabs for ‘Main’ and ‘Side,’ which is where your main and side quests will be listed respectively. Any quests that are currently being tracked and have quest markers turned on will have a filled in square next to them.

To turn quest markers off in Fallout 76, you simply need to select these by using the left analog stick or the d-pad, and then pressing X for PS4 users, or A on Xbox One. Doing so should see the filled-in square disappear from next to the quest name.

This should also remove it from being listed in the top-right corner of the screen, and the quest markers should be turned off on your compass. If you need to turn these back on, it’s simply a case of selecting the quest and pressing A or X on it once again.

That’s pretty much all there is that you need to know to turn off quest markers in Fallout 76. If you’re looking for more tips, tricks and guides to help you survive in the West Virginia wasteland, look no further than our comprehensive Fallout 76 guide wiki.
