How to Sprint in Fallout 76

Here’s everything you need to know about how to sprint in Fallout 76.

While Fallout 76 is no longer the classic single-player RPG experience we’ve come to expect from the series, becoming an always online shared world game, it still plays in the way you’d expect.

The crafting and base building elements that were divisive in Fallout 4 have made their way over and play quite an important role in Bethesda’s new game, and you still roam the wasteland in search of items to pick up and enemies to take on.

When it come to the basic controls, such as sprint, you’ll know what to do if you’ve ever played a Fallout game before. To sprint in Fallout 76, all you need to do is press the thumbstick down and run in the direction you want to go.

That’s all there is to it for how to sprint in Fallout 76. For more tips and trick on the game, check out our Fallout 76 wiki guide. We have also provided details down below for some other basic Fallout 76 controls.

Other Fallout 76 Basic Controls

Since you’ll always be at the mercy of monsters and other players as you explore Fallout 76’s wasteland, you’ll want to ready to fight at all times. To keep your weapons ready, you can reload by press X/Square, for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 respectively.

Crouching is the best thing to do if you’re trying to hide from danger. To do so, push in the right thumbstick and move around slowly with the left stick. You’ll see an indicator at the top of the screen. This tells you if you’ve been spotted. If you’re Hidden, it’ll be yellow, or red if you’ve been detected.

To jump over obstacles or wherever else in the game, you simply need to press triangle if you’re on PlayStation 4 or Y if you’re on Xbox One.

To melee attack in the game, which you’ll need to do a lot, you need to press R1 if you’re on PS4 or RB on Xbox One if you have a gun equipped and no grenades equipped. Or, if you have a bat or other melee weapon equipped, you can press R2 or RT (what you’d usually press to shoot).

Finally, VATS is a vital part of Fallout 76’s combat. When you’re in killing distance of an enemy, you need to press L1 so that you lock on to it. You’ll then see a percentage figure that tells you the probability of you hitting the target.

VATS drains your AP, though, which you use for sprinting and jumping and you explore, so don’t use it unnecessarily!
