Fallout 76 CAMP Budget and How to Make it Bigger
Your base is a huge part of Fallout 76. Here’s what you need to know about your CAMP’s limits, and how to increase the budget.
What Is the CAMP budget?
Bases in Fallout 76 cannot be as extravagant as they were in Fallout 4. Every CAMP in Fallout 76 has a limit determining how many items you can construct.
You can find the bar measuring your budget in the top-right corner of the screen when working at your CAMP. Keep your budget in mind when building– you don’t want to reach your limit before you’re done, and be left with a wall missing from your “impenetrable fortress”.
How Is the CAMP Budget Determined?
While Bethesda hasn’t clearly defined the rubric behind it, the budget allotment for your CAMP seems to be primarily determined by your character’s level.
The higher level you are, the bigger your budget is… basically. Technically, what happens is that items cost less to construct the higher level you are, so effectively your budget is “larger”. The cost decrease between levels is pretty small though, so don’t expect a drastic difference with each level-up.
Keep in mind too that your budget is totally separate from the maximum size of your CAMP. That green radius indicating the area you can build in will not increase with level. The same goes for the invisible height restrictions for your CAMP.
How to Increase Your CAMP Budget
There are three things you can do to get the most of your CAMP’s budget in Fallout 76:
Level Up
This is technically the only way to increase your budget in the current state of the game. The budget bar won’t actually get larger, but the cost per item constructed will decrease.
How much the cost decreases and if it’s the same across all items is not known exactly, but the cost of “high use” items like turrets does seem to decrease a bit more. Do some experimenting to see for yourself.
You won’t see a drastic decrease in your item construction cost level-by-level, but don’t worry, many of the budget-hungry pieces of your CAMP won’t be found until later in the game.
As long as you keep your turret and workbench amounts in check, you should be free to build a sizable fortress as you progress through Fallout 76.
Build Smart
Different pieces of your CAMP take up different amounts of your budget. Basic things like wood foundations and walls consume a very small percentage of your budget while turrets and workbenches take up a sizable chunk.
Plan ahead when building, and keep an eye on how much your budget increases when constructing each item. Down the road, it would be great if Bethesda patched in a clear budget “cost” for every piece of your CAMP.
Check For Stored Items
Any pieces of your CAMP that you have at one point constructed will count towards your budget– so check your stored items! Even if you don’t have that door or roof actually placed on the map it will still take up some of your budget. Scrap any pieces of your CAMP you’re not using or add them to your base.
