How to Get the Thunderlord Exotic Heavy Machine Gun in Destiny 2

With the release of the Forsaken expansion, Destiny 2 is in the best spot it’s ever been in, and there are tons of secrets to uncover. One of those is the Thunderlord, a Heavy Machine Gun that original Destiny players should be familiar with. It’s been included in the sequel, and here’s how you can get the Thunderlord Exotic Heavy Machine Gun in Destiny 2.

Once you log in to Destiny 2, head straight to the Tower and talk to the Shipwright, Amanda Holliday. She’ll give you the journal of the Cryptarch Ives, which will kickstart the quest. This quest requires you to find the missing pages from Ives’ journal.

Getting the 10 Journal Pages

It sounds daunting, but obtaining the journal pages is actually a fairly easy step to complete. Pages can be obtained in Destiny 2 by either decrypting Legendary engrams, or by killing elite Fallen enemies on Earth.

Head over to the EDZ, and start looking for some elite Fallen enemies. They’re easily recognizable by their yellow health bars on top of their heads. These guys aren’t too tough to kill, and high-value targets will also count towards getting the journal pages for the Thunderlord quest.

Complete Lost Sectors in the EDZ

After obtaining all 10 journal pages in Destiny 2, it’s time to head back to the EDZ to complete four Lost Sectors. The first three Lost Sectors you’ll have to complete are Terminus East, Atrium, and Widow’s Walk. All three can be found pretty easily by checking your map.

After clearing the first three Lost Sectors, you’ll be tasked with exploring a fourth one, called Whispered Falls. Located on the western side of the EDZ, this Lost Sector isn’t too hard to clear out either. Just defeat the enemies, kill the elite, and wait for Amanda to give you your next instructions.

Accessing the Teleporter

The final step of the Thunderlord quest in Destiny 2 will take you back to the EDZ yet again, where you have to examine a strange teleportation device. This device will take you back to the Cosmodrome, an area that veteran Destiny players should be familiar with as well.

Follow the quest markers until you’re tasked with taking down Kikliss and a group of Fallen and Servitors. As always, take out the Servitor first so you can handle the rest of the enemies more easily. Once you’ve cleared them out, you’ll have to make your way out of the Cosmodrome yet again to get to the teleporter.

Once you’re back at the Tower in Destiny 2, talk to Amanda to officially complete the quest, and she’ll reward you with the Thunderlord Exotic Heavy Machine Gun.

And that’s all you need to know about how to get the Thunderlord Exotic Heavy Machine Gun in Destiny 2. Be sure to check out our Destiny 2: Forsaken guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
