The Nintendo Switch console was originally released last March, and it’s already been a pretty phenomenal success for the company. Nintendo has just shared some sales numbers for the console, and the Switch has already sold 22.86 million units worldwide.

In comparison to the Wii U hardware sales, these are numbers are looking great. According to Nintendo, the Wii U sold 13.56 million units worldwide. Of course, the Switch still has quite a ways to go if it wants to catch up with the Wii, DS, and 3DS, with the first two surpassing 100 million units sold.

2018 has been a relatively slow year for the Switch in terms of major first-party game releases, especially when you consider that the console got Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey in 2017. Still, the console sales have still been strong, and if Nintendo’s able to keep up with even more first-party releases next year (Animal Crossing and Pokemon are already looking promising), those numbers are sure to go up.
