Super Mario Party Online Play: What You Need to Know

What You Need to Know About Super Mario Party Online Play

Recommended Videos

Super Mario Party for the Nintendo Switch is finally out and seems to make the proper return to what makes Mario Party fun, the mini-games, crazy game modes, and awesome game boards. Some of the past Mario Party titles featured a strange mechanic that put all four players into a single vehicle with everyone moving together at once, creating the illusion that game would go by quicker. But Mario Party is all about being competitive and crushing your friends, so that’s what Super Mario Party brings back, and this time with Super Mario Party Online Play.

To do Super Mario Party online play, you must first head to the Online Mariothon mode that allows you to challenge opponents to a short minigame-off that includes just five games. From then, you can play with friends and use voice chat to come together and compete in this competition. Just keep in mind that you can play this mode with randoms from all over the world but you will only be able to use voice chat with your friends, in typical Nintendo fashion.

What’s unfortunate about Super Mario Party online play is that this is the only way to play with friends online, there are no game boards or other modes to try out unless you’re playing in the same room. Also, this mini-game off only lets you choose from a pre-selected pool of 10 mini-games to play, which is quite underwhelming. It would have been neat to play a full game of Mario Party with my close friends around the globe, but alas, Nintendo still hasn’t quite given us what we all desperately want from the series.

That’s all there is to know about Super Mario Party online play. The game is now available for the Nintendo Switch and features over 80 brand-new mini-games for you to test your luck with. For more on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
