Is Red Dead Redemption 2 Coming to Xbox 360 or PS3?
After the phenomenal success of the first Red Dead Redemption, fans have been chomping at the bit to jump back into Rockstar’s version of the Old West. This time around players follow the story of Arthur Morgan in a story that takes place before the events of the first Red Dead Redemption. Morgan is a member of the infamous Dutch Van Der Linde Gang, the same gang John Marston worked for. With plenty of gameplay enhancements, a massive open world, over 200 kinds of wildlife, and a lengthy dramatic story, Red Dead Redemption 2 is Rockstar’s most ambitious game yet. With such a highly anticipated game, fans will no doubt be wondering what systems they’ll be able to pick the game up for, and if it’s coming to the likes of the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Unfortunately, Red Dead Redemption 2 is not coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 and it, undoubtedly, never will.
While a handful of developers may still release games on the two systems, production on the two consoles has already ended, in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
Clocking in at nearly a massive 100GB file size, it’s unlikely that Red Dead Redemption 2 could run on the older hardware, even if Rockstar wanted it to.
The extra power of the PS4 and Xbox One is necessary for running the stunning world that Red Dead Redemption 2 presents, especially considering how seamless exploration and story blend together.
At this point the only systems Red Dead Redemption 2 is planned for is PS4 and Xbox One. There have been no announcements on a PC version, and a Nintendo Switch version also seems highly unlikely.
Of course, back in 2015 Rockstar brought Grand Theft Auto V to PC with a host of new features, like a first-person mode. There’s always a chance that something similar could happen for Red Dead Redemption 2 down the road, and we’ll make sure to update you should anything new be announced.
Just as a note, though, the original Red Dead Redemption released in 2010, has never made its way to PC.
For now if you’re wanting to explore the Old West in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll need to stick to a PS4 or Xbox One.
