How to Get New Saddles

Saddles can improve your horse’s core regen and drain rates, so you’ll always want to be on the lookout for the best one in Red Dead Redemption 2. New saddles can be bought from stables found in various towns and settlements across the game, and they start at around $40. At the stables go into the Manage Your Horses option and under the Tack section you’ll be able to purchase new saddles. Stables will also allow you to buy new colors for your saddle as well as new stirrups, saddle bags, horns, blankets, and bedrolls.

How to Upgrade Your Saddle Bags in Red Dead Redemption 2

In addition to getting better saddles, you will also be able to upgrade your saddle bags in Red Dead Redemption 2. By taking pelts and skins to Pearson, the chef at your camp, you can craft upgraded saddle bags that will let you carry more on your horse. The pelts need to be in perfect condition, however, so more often than not you’re better off just purchasing new ones from stables.

How to Transfer Items to Horse

In Red Dead Redemption 2 your horse will basically function as portable storage. You can transfer items, like animal carcasses, to your horse by going to the back of it when carrying something and pressing the square button (X on Xbox). Additionally, the horse will carry your larger weapons, so you’ll need to remember to take these from it when you head out on a mission. If you press the L1/LT while riding or near the horse, you’ll be able to navigate your weapons menu and pick what you want.

With a nice new saddle and saddle bags on your horse, you’re ready to head off on an expedition in the Old West. Of course, you’ll want to keep your horse in tip-top shape, which means you’ll need to feed it and wash it. If you’re looking to get or tame a new horse, we can also help with that.

That’s everything you need to know about how to upgrade your saddle bags and get better saddles in Red Dead Redemption 2. Make sure to check back in with Twinfinite for any other help you might need, and take a look at our extensive Red Dead Redemption 2 guide wiki.
