Like with most items, you can sell gold bars for a pretty penny in the game. These items sell for $500 per bar, so you’ll definitely want to get your hands on them.

That said, you’ll have to put in some elbow grease if you want to get your hands on some gold. You’re not going to find these just laying out in plain sight in the world, but you can find them tucked away in hidden stashes. You’ll also get gold bars from a few quests in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Clearing Chapter 2

The easiest way to get some gold bars in Red Dead Redemption 2 is by following the main story. Once you finish Chapter 2, you will be rewarded with some gold.

These items are basically yours to keep, so you can sell them for some fast cash. Of course, there are also other ways you can get some easy gold outside of the main quests.

Strange Statues Puzzle

The Strange Statues puzzle offers three gold bars as a reward if you manage to solve it. To find the puzzle room, you’ll need to head over to the Grizzlies East region in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Check around for a small crevice in the white rocks, where you’ll see a bunch of statues when you head on. Arthur will note something down about Strange Statues, and from there, look for a large rock structure to the west of your location.

The painting will be of the strange statues you’ve just seen, with an eagle next to each one. Grab the following numbers: 2, 4, 5, 8, 3, 7, 6 before heading back to the puzzle room where the statues are.

When you’re back, push the statues with the prime numbers (2, 5, 3, and 7), which will lead to an audio cue. Look for the middle pedestal to find your gold bars in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Gold Bars from Catherine Braithwaite

Upon reaching Chapter 4 in Red Dead Redemption 2, players have the option to head back to the burned manor ruins to find the remains of Catherine Braithwaite.

Make sure to loot her body for an emerald brooch and look for a box in the same room. Inside, you should find another gold bar that’s free to take in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Horseshoe Overlook

When you’ve finished the Spines of America mission, make sure to drop by the burned town of Limpany to the south of Horseshoe Overlook.

Look for the sheriff’s building and walk around the desk to find a treasure chest sitting on the ground. When you open it, you’ll find a gold bar, among some other items in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Jack Hall Gang Treasure

Another way to get more gold bars in Red Dead Redemption 2 is by finding the Jack Hall Gang Treasure. You’ll need to get the treasure map first by heading to the top of the hill West of Flatneck Station and North of the Bard’s Crossing bridge.

Look for an explorer who loves to talk about his success with women, and buy the map off of him for $10. From there on, just follow the three maps to find the clues that will lead you to two gold bars in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Where to Sell Gold Bars

Now that you finally have your hands on some gold bars in Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s time to sell them. It’s worth pointing out that you can’t hand them over to the general store for money. What you’ll want to do is look for the nearest Fence and sell it to him along with all of your stolen items. Here’s the fence icon that you’re looking for on your map.
